I have the smae problem; ever since my baptism my mother's been going on about how it's my 'old life'. Yet she doesn't seem to recall that my walk with God didn't take off until I became truely comfortable with me. And I wasn't turely comfortable with me until I discovered the gothic community where I used to live & got involved with it.

To top all the critisism and nagging; yesterday my mother accused me of cutting. Which I would never do. I was doing a peice of work for school and I needed to cut something out of a peice of card, the first thing I came across just happened to be a knife.

Dude...you're parents are insane. Just sit down and talk with them. Let them know that just because you dress a certain way, it doesn't mean you're into certain things or whatever they're thinking. Communication...it helps everything. I'm just glad my mom understands the difference between clothing and lifestyle.

My parents are trying to stop me asking why I haven't worn any colorful clothes. What's even worse is that my friends call me a poser just because "goth" is usually associated with uber pale skin, mainly because darker people don't usually go "goth".

Colourful clothes goes with black, you know.

I have wearing black everyday, just a hint of colour will do you as fine

The goth style is very diverse now anyways; just like the music isn't now only post punk and goth rock, the fashion also has many different styles besides the classic all black. [but even in the past it wasn't always so... Think of Siouxsie & the Banshees, my most loved goth band, they very often used colourful clothes!] So it's all a matter of personal preference *shrugs* I personally wouldn't be comfortable wearing only black all the time.

Reply: Well, This is totally strange, just tell her that you have made something from school without cutting yourself. wahmbulance
