I read this in the newpaper(i live in Cali): The number of wolves in some U.S. states has gotten to a number where they can be taken off the endangered species list which would make it legal to hunt them cry and supposedly the idaho governer wants them to be shot form 650 (current number) to 100 (the minimal number to keep them off the list) and a bill is being introduced that if they get delisted they can be hunted for a license of a mere 26 bucks stare this sucks. They haven't been delisted yet and and defenders of wildlife(and others) are pushing to keep them listed for their protection. did anyone else hear of this and know if its true?

That's not right. Just because an animal isn't endangered anymore doesn't mean you can go out and hunt it just for your amusement.

Gawd. gonk

I really don't get what people's obsession is with putting bullets through helpless animals.

A lot of this sounds like political games. In states with lots of farmer, wolves are generally disliked because they kill livestock. Therefore, the politicians will take as anti-wolf a standing as possible because it will get him/her votes. It's another example of why I dislike politics. Gag.

I don't think they hsould be removed. The populations, even if rising, are not steady and established yet. They are basically all new, and need to be given time so that a bit of hunting won't mess up all the hard work conservationists have put in. If I could, I would prevent the hunting entirely, but that goes on no matter how much I may wail and scream....

D: That's not cool!!! eek crying
What's the point of hunting? Everyone says it's because of "overpopulation". Right. I say they do it because they're cruel, cold-hearted people.
How would they like to be shot?!?!
Sorry..I'm done. sweatdrop

I heard this, and very unfortunately, it is true. Frank Murkowski is the name of the Idaho governer I believe... it really is vile and cruel what people are doing. And there's only one man to blame: President George Bush. mad I hate him sooo much. You can sign petetions and join the fight to help save the wolves!!: www.defenders.org. This is the official website for the Defenders of Wildlife organization. You can subscribe to emails from the Defenders; pretty much all they send you are petitions, and they really do help wildlife and the environment so... yeah. It's all up to us, the humans. Unfortunately. sweatdrop ~Tr!nity~

P.S. we need more threads about wolves, they're in grave danger! scream Heh, sorry.

I hadn't heard about that. That's just horrible. They have no right to go around killing the wolves. How would the like it if I shot them?! Sure, wolves kill livestock, so? It's their form of food. Humans kill other animals for food too, does that mean we can go around killing each other? It's not right. Those poor wolves.

What do the wolves have to do with Bush? o.0

Technically, the Endangered Species list is for animal populations under certain numbers. If it gets above, they aren't on it anymore. It's got nothing to do with monkey-man president. Not that he probably wouldn't mess it up if he had full control over it.

And, generally speaking, I sometimes try to keep my hatred for Bush to a minimum....I mena, if Bush wasn't in office right now, Cheney would take over. He's far worse, trust me. What other person in the world can shoot someone in the face while hunting, and not only does the other person try to play it off as no big deal, but the man who got shot apologized for it? Cheney has something going on we don't know about, I swear. Bush is just his little puppet to get what he wants.

Well first off, Cheney didn't shoot the dude on purpose, he was walking through the woods and apparently Cheney thought he was a deer or something... so the guy apologized. Maybe he thought it was his fault for not yelling out "Hey you! I ain't no freakin' deer!"
But anyway, that's not the point I'm trying to make.
The point is that President Bush, as well as the Bush Administration, is ordering farmers and hunters to slaughter wolves. Why? It's beyond me. There's probably a reason, but I don't see how someone, anyone, could KILL wolves. No reason is good enough for me.
