Hello. I just had a quick question about patterns... I am a beginner at sewing and I had a question about the notches on the pattern... How do you cut/get them on? are they important? Thanks!!

Yes, the notches are important. Sometimes the notches are supposed to line up with each other, sometimes they just mark which side of the pattern piece goes toward the front or back of the finished project. My sewing teacher taught us to cut around the outside of the notches instead of into the seam allowance. It's also more permanant than using a marking tool to mark the notches. If it was a double or triple notch she'd just have us cut the first and last with a straight cut across the top. I'm not very good at explaining things, but I hope I helped.
