The pale, tawny furred lioness smirked to herself as she slunk along the border to the Ela'wadiyi lands. She'd only heard of them once before, and the small, yet strong lions that lived within. "Mystifying." She murmered, tripping slightly as one of her long claws snagged in a small piece of bramble that had been tracked out there. "Stupid grass..." Palidezca growled a little and then flung it off her foot with a flick of her paw.
She turned her head a moment and looked around, then put her nose to the ground and sniffed around herself in a circle. "Weird...What do you mean you smell another? I can't smell anything at all..." She mumbled to herself, as if questioning an invisible someone next to her. "I think you're just being silly." She added, though Palidezca made an effort to make herself less visible anyways, concealing herself in the slightly dry, short grasses just before the border.
It was true, the lioness was slightly afraid of what penalties might be for entering the lands without permission, but she was oh so curious...

Tawa'di has left his protige, his charge, to let himself wander the lands, pieces that he would probably never see again. It was with a heavy heart that he was realizing just what he was getting into. But....if he was to die soon anyway, wouldn't it be good to leave a piece of himself in it, a new assurance that his pride would live on.
His old bones creaked as he slowed his pace to take a break. Well, this seemed like a nice place to rest. Taking his time, he soon landed on his haunched, his sitting position looking a little uncomfortable at first until he relaxed into it. Old age certainly wasn't something easy to take head on.
His green eyes gently absorbed what he saw, loving the land that the Ela'wadiyi had claimed after their migration. It was beautiful, and he would miss it greatly.
His ears perked up as he noticed another nearby. Nearly nothing could get past this old seer, the only nvwati left alive. He didn't raise his head in invitation though, instead keeping as much energy to himself as he could. He couldn't afford to wear himself out too early, not when he still had to make it back to the home camp. "Hello there, traveler. Lost, are you?"

Palidezca snorted in the direction of the greeting. "Lost, pah, no. I know exactly where I am." The female spat hostily, not liking that she couldn't manage a visual on the one that had spoken to her. She snarled softly and swayed her long tail from side to side in agitation. The tawny-furred female thought she'd caught a glimpse of what looked like graying, yet brown fur, but couldn't be entirely sure.
She wrinkled up her nose and cast a crimson glance about, searching again, for the form of another, yet not willing to reveal herself just yet. Palidezca set about whispering to the shadowy figure beside her, "I don't know where he is...well, if you're so concerned about it, why don't you go look for him? I'm not exactly sure I'm welcome here! Well, I don't think others can see you, so you go find him..." She debated with the unseen lion beside herself, rolling her eyes and deciding it best to just give up on arguing, as it wasn't getting them anywhere, obviously.
The lioness again swished her tail, and then sat up just slightly, able to peer over the grass, and then she saw what she'd beenlooking for. An old, tattooed lion, sitting, rather comfortably looking in the grass just yards away. His head was down, and it almost seemed as though he could be sleeping. Palidezca snorted in slight amusement, and then raised herself entirely out of the grass, sparing a glance to the shadowed figure beside her as it faded and stalked away.
"Are you a member of the pride these lands belong to?" She inquired, a rather demanding tone to her voice.

Tawa'di's ears caught most of what the stranger spoke, and he was concerned with what he heard. Something was wrong with her, but he couldn't quite figure it out. Not yet, anyway. The old lion had seen much in his day, and he was quite certain that time would help him unravel the mystery.
His head soon lifted, his graying mane shifting out of his face. His green eyes still held the brightness of life in them, and he quickly let himself give off a warm grin, as well. Strangers were to be treated kindly, and only if they were hostile could the pride be hostile back. Now, though, Tawa'di couldn't do much on his own, but he had good faith and a trust that very few held.
"Aaah, so one of the few who knows of us Ela'wadiyi. It is a pleasure to meet you, miss." He offered her a nod, his large mane shifting a bit under the nod.

"I've been told stories of your kind." She whispered, taking a few paces closer to the old male. He had a sort of odd air about him, though she couldn't quite place her paw on it. "Hmmm." She pondered to herself, looking about for the shadowy lion that had been with her only moments prior.
This old male was grinning at her. Well, she hadn't exactly been polite, but it was the least she could do to smile back. "I've come searching for you. I've been travelling a long time to find this place. Very difficult to locate." The tawny-furred female said, lifting a brow delicately and admiring the tattoos that covered the male's body.
"Very interesting, what I've seen and heard of your traditions, so far." She said, with an incline of her head towards the male, hoping to make it clear that she was making mention of the incredibly elaborate designs that were covering him. The female rest her crimson eyes upon a particular small swirl on his shoulder, intrigued by how detailed the tattoos were.
"Amazing." Came a wispy, almost inaudible voice from beside her left ear. "Indeed." She responded with a whisper.

"Oh?" the old lion questioned, a bit humored by her words. "I hope that the stories about us are good, we wouldn't want any of our bad ones to escape." He laughed at himself for a moment, lost in his own joke, which really had nothing to stand on but the humor of the elderly.
"Our traditions may seem strange to outsiders, but we welcome them with opens arms, as they help us connect to the earth, and to each other, so much better." He was hinting at trust and faith in many things, but didn't want to seem like he was pushing it on her either.
He could see that she was eyeing his tattoos; something that was common with outsiders. He didn't mind, but at times it did tire him; there was more to him then what was written on his body, and language that outsiders could hardly read. He inwardly shrugged and waited patiently, his black feather swaying with a light gust of a breeze.

"Well, I'm not sure what I've heard were much of either." She tawny-furred lioness shrugged slightly, lifting a brow at him as he enjoyed a chuckle, to himself. "I'm sure you'd know if others were spreading ill word about you." Palidezca offered him a little grin back, and then considered his next statement carefully.
"They are strange, I'll admit," The lioness paused and listened to the whispering voice in her ear of her shadowy companion, "But I still can't help but find them incredibly intriguing, all the same." She added with a mischievous little smile, wrinkling her nose for a brief moment, and then flicking her tail from side to side.
Palidezca also waited for a moment, brow still lifted under her contemplation, and then frowned slightly. "I'm sorry. You must get it a lot..." She said quietly, lowering her head slightly, apologetically. The lioness imagined to herself that all others he must meet that weren't direct family, or otherwise connected to the pride, must like to look at the elaborate tattoos, and suddenly felt guilty for staring at them, having not wondered whether it might make the male feel uncomfortable.

Tawa'di was unsure with what flew through the golden lioness' mind, but he was sure that it was something related to his home, his pride. He mentally shrugged it off, and picked through his mind on how to word it properly to this lioness stranger.
"Well, it is no trouble at all. I can see how our traditions seem very strange, especially the full-body tattooing. There is nothing to worry about, though, it does not bother me, or any of my pride, if you ask them about our ways. We are very welcome to any stranger."
He offered a nod with his words, as well.
