The sun beat down upon the savanah, warming all who dared step out of the cooling shade. Water lapped gently in the watering holes around the lands, and on the shore of the rivers and streams. Here and there, prey animals drank from the waters. Now and then, an unlucky beast was claimed by a river crocodile. Thus was how life went, after all.
Stepping cautiously to the river, Danzi eyed the water. Crocodiles could be anywhere, after all. But crocodiles became the least of his worries when he spied a group of hippos. He'd have rather taken the scaley monsters to a hippo! Turning an about-face, he climbed the bank and headed for the nearest watering hole instead. Thirs quenching would be done elsewhere today. A breeze, welcome during the dry seasons, brought to his dark nose the scents of many other lions, though one seemed stronger. Pausing, he looked around for the source. "Who's there...?"

The old male stretched his fast aging limbs, so old and yet still trying to be the best hunter he can be. His dull, violet eyes cast over the lands as he tottered towards the waterhole before noticing the bright orange flair of fur before him. Eye's narrowing dangerously as he let out a small, warning snarl...that sounded quite pathetic coming from the decrepid male.
However as he saw the younger male he paused and narrowed his eyes slightly.
"I am, young one." He said softly, watching him curiously.
Had he ever seen this boy around?
