It was a bright and clear morning, and Safiya was thoroughly enjoying it. She had spent most of her short time here exploring this new land she had stumbled upon, not quite believing that she would be able to live here. She hadn't met many of the inhabitants here, only the former and current kings, and so wasn't sure if there were many friendly lions here. The white lioness dearly hoped that the others would welcome her here, and that they would like her.
Tamu had said she could be nanny to three cubs that had no mother. What had happened to their mother, Safiya hadn't been told - but she didn't need to know. The only thing that concerned her was the poor motherless dears that needed someone to love them. She was anxious to begin her nannying job.
She had yet to meet her young wards. Impatient, however, to show how qualified she would be for that job, she was off looking for one of the only two lions she knew in the Kusini.

And one of them happened to be heading right toward her. Asi quite enjoyed the company of the newest member in the Kusini, figuring it was easiest to spend most of his time around her rather than mope around in his den like he'd done previously.
"Oy, 'ey!" He called out, so she'd stop walking ahead of him so he could finally catch up! He thought that today would be the day she met the children. At least, she'd have to meet one of them by now!

Adamu followed the king close behind. After his mother’s dead he found himself clinging to the father he thought loved him. He didn’t know what else to do really, he had no other friends. His null eyes lay fixed upon the male before him as he wiggled after him, unaware of the new lioness that lay dead ahead.

((*hope I can post..dunno if anyone else was gonna join us yet*))
Safiya heard the familiar lilting voice and turned her head. As she expected, Asi was approaching her. The sight of him brought the usual smile to her mouth, and she greeted him with an enthusiastic "Good morning, Asi!"
She flounced over to him, not wanting to wait for him to catch up. "So I thought that..." her words wandered off as she spotted the little boy keeping close to his father's (so she thought) legs.
Bending down, she smiled at the little cub she assumed to be shy, and said "Why hel-lo, little buddy. What's your name?"

(( :3 I'll join in now, lufflies. ))
"Waaaiiiii' uppp!"
Trailing pathetically behind her father and brother, Kibuluu barely managed to refrain from stumbling over her own legs. She was still young, still new to the world, and the last thing she wanted was to be left behind. she clung to her family as if they were the foundation upon which she stood on. Even when they were only a few yards away she would become distressed at the distance, silently so, and would skip on over to her family to try and cuddle up with her father or play with her brother and sister.
"I can't believe yah didun wai' for me!" Kibuluu exclaimed in exasperation, finally managing to catch up to her father and brother. She slipped between her father's legs, purring softly as she came up to greet Safiya. There was little doubt that she was not shy, and before her brother could answer Kibuluu was taking the honor upon herself to reply. "His name's Adamu," and she was careful to pronounce his name efficiently, "but I call him 'Damu. M'names Buu, short for Kibuluu'ardhi. Key-boo-loo-arrrrrd-heee." She was surprisingly even more careful when pronoucning her own, almost tediously long name.

As his sister wiggled up from behind him, Adamu stopped and gazed at her dully. She seemed so much more alive than he was, even after mother’s death she was so full of energy. He envied that and apart of him had a strong distaste for her and how she acted. Did she not care at all about mother? Had she really gotten over it so soon? The tastes of the wind that night sill laced within his maw as he struggled to find the words for the new female before him, but still found nothing to say.
Her light colors were rather charming to say the least, so for the mean time he sat still and gazed upon her as if he were gazing upon some type of pale goddess from above. Why did father want them to see her? Was she going to be apart of the pride, like so many others were-- wasn’t that what father did, look after the pride? But- what did she have to do with Adamu and his sister?- cocking his head to the side the young prince sat himself back and sighed dully, before taking a soft bat at his sister’s tail.
He was trying to look like he was happy.

((Dunno the postiing order, but heck, I'm gonna post anyway XD; ))
Suprise first overcame Safiya's features as a little girl cub came running up to them and immediately answered for her brother.
Safiya giggled musically . As Safi listened to her speak, her smile only grew at the child's... amusing way of talking. When the little girl was finished, Safiya put a more mature, adult-ish expression on her face and looked at the little boy. "Alright, so...Adamu, is it?" The poor thing looked so sad and lost. He would need extra help and love. She wanted to snuggle him, but knew it probably wouldn't be received well on the first meeting. Her first aim was to get to know them, and get them to trust her.
Then she turned to the little girl. "And...Buu, then?" Safiya almost lost her serious face when prouncing the cub's name. It seemed so appropriate to the bubbly girl. Already, Buu had a special place in Safi's heart - the little girl seemed to much like herself at that age.
The unresponsive Adamu worried Safiya, but she wasn't sure there was anything she could say to cheer him up, not when she was a stranger to him. He was sluggish and downcast, even as he tried to be playful. Leaning down slightly, she gave him a caring smile that hopefully spoke for her.
Then, she spoke to both of them, but with her eyes on Buu. "My name is Safiya. Your daddy here said you little guys needed somebody to take care of you. So that's what I'm here for. How'dyou like that?" Oh, she hoped they liked her. Nervously looking from one cub to the next, she added in a lighthearted conspiratory whisper, "We're going to have lots of fun, trust me!"
When Asi had told her he had cubs that needed a nanny, Safiya hadn't even thought why. But now she was beginning to see, in this sad little family, why the cubs were alone. They had no mother, or at least she wasn't around anymore. That thought hadn't dawned on her til just now. Buu didn't seem affected by it, but poor little Adamu...
Wait. Didn't Asi say there were three cubs? "Asi..." she started, looking at him curiously. "Wasn't there a third?"

Asi frowned lightly as he watched the two cubs, it was like they were on opposite ends of the spectrum. He cleared his throat slightly, and then glanced up to Safi. "Eh.. wha?" He said, then looked around on the ground as if the other daughter would be right here. "Er.. uh.."

Whoops. Latelatelate, this wasn't good. Small rustlings in the grass could be heard as the last sibling raced after her family, stumbling a few places here and there as the two adults grew in her eyes. There! Skidding to a halt beside her her dad, she flashed an apologetic grin upwards, head sort of sinking. Batuuli knew late was bad. "I'm reallyreally sorry," she added quickly, eyes begging for forgiveness from those present, before sliding off to glance the new lioness.
So much for a good first impression, huh? "My name's Batuuli'binah." She nodded her own confirmation. Well... at least her mouth wasn't a suspected traitor now.
((Really sorry for the bad psoteh. -hides-))

Ah, here she was. Safi watched with amusement as the last of her new charges came scrambling over. Her lateness was of no consequence to the easy-going lioness.
"Very nice to meet you, Miss Batuuli'binah," Safiya said, mentally noting that she'd have to shorten that name in the future, or else forget it. "My name is Safiya, and I'm gonna be looking after you and your siblings from now on. Is that okay with you?" She might as well repeat that, since this new one missed her first introduction.
Safi's blue eyes looked over the three small lions. If she couldn't have her own children just yet, this was the best she would get. Already she loved them like her own. She only hoped they would grow to regard her in turn.
After scanning their bright eyes, Safi snuck a look up at Asi. He had a sweet family. What was it that made him so melancholy?
She would find that out later. For now, the cubs were her first priority. "How bout we get to know each other, hmm? Would you guys like to play a game?" The white lioness didn't know of any better way for the four of them to become acquainted.

“I do not want to play with you.”
Adamu coughed out bluntly before moving himself up. He was tired of all of this, so very tired. He didn’t want a new mother and he didn’t care about how nice she was. She would never be able to heal his heart. His soft eyes gazed dully at his so called father, as if to ask him why he was doing this. Though no words passed his maw he was unhappy with him, he really was.
With a soft bow of the head the little prince slowly started away from his sisters and the new female; he didn’t even want to try to be social, not right now. It was too soon.

Asi's eyes widened and he gave an apologetic look to Safi. "Eh... I'll be righ' back." He said slowly as he moved to his feet and followed afet Ari's son. "Adamu!" He chided stearnly, frowning slightly. "Where d'yeh be goin' eh?" His tail flicked back and forth he was slightly annoyed. He tried to understand that the male might be hurt he was trying to get them a nanny but he couldn't be looking out for the three cubs all of the time! He just couldn't, watching them all hurt him. They reminded him so much of Ari... and right now he couldn't just keep going on hurt like he was.
Maybe it would have been better if he had gotten one of his daughters to do it?

Buu could not help but giggle as her brother batted at her tail, but already she sensed something was wrong. She was not an oblivious child, and her mouth was beginning to twist down in worry as Batuuli came. Like Safira, she did not mind that her own sister was late. Buu was just happy that she had arrived, and her perhaps her happiness would be a cue for Adamu to be happy as well. It was so sad, the way he mourned over their mother. Mng'Ariza was gone, and they had never really gotten to know her. Buu was moving on, and almost leaving her brother behind.
"It's nice of you ter offer..."
Something was wrong; Buu was the most likely candidate to accept Safira. "Daddy takes good enough care of us." It was clear that Adamu was uncomfortable, and it was clear that Buu would do anything for her brother. She would even abandon her desperate want for a mother if it was not what her siblings wanted. Batuuli could want a mother very badly, but if Adamu didn't want Safira, then Buu would pretend not to. She would cry, that was undeniable, but she'd give Safira up so that her family could be happy
Oh, she really did want a mother.
Her eyes were just beginning to tear up, her lower lip trembling, before Adamu declared that he basically wanted nothing to do with their new nanny. He moved off, and Buu pushed her sadness back because at the moment her /brother/ needed her. Father never had the ability to calm Adamu down, and sometimes he made it worse.
"I'm sorry," she mumbled softly, and then turned around to trail off after her father. She wiggled through Asi's legs, earnest eyes appealing to her brother. "Adamu... I dun wanna new mummy if yah dun. We don't have to get one; I can take care of you. I'm getting big enough too. We need no one else; 'specially if you dun want one."

Safiya suddenly felt like she had been kicked in the gut.
She had foolishly come to them expecting nothing but acceptance, not even considering they would feel any different than her. Her fledging dream, that picture she had envisioned in her head of the four of them, happy and loving, was shattered just like that. All gone. They didn't want her. What had she done wrong? All she wanted was to take care of them...
This full-out rejection to her offerings of love was a slap in the face. The smile that she always wore fell for once, and turned into dejection - something she rarely, if ever, felt.
"I don't want to play with you..." "I don't want a new mommy..." The words echoed terribly in her ears, filling her with shame that she ever offered.
What a fool I am.
Hurt and embarrased, all Safiya wanted to do was get away from them - all of them. They didn't want her? Fine, she didn't want them, either! Why had she ever thought this could be her home? She could leave this wretched place - nothing was holding her here - and go somewhere where people would love her in return.
For a long moment she didn't have the courage to speak, didn't know what to say. "Ah..ah..I'll just...I'll just go, then." The rejection of one little boy that she had just met, had broken her heart, made her doubt herself, and made her angry at the same time. She felt humiliated.
Unable to face them any more, Safiya turned and ran - not wanting them to see her, a grown-up, cry.

Batuuli was silent at the nanny's question. Take care of them? Well... why? Wasn't that Dad's job? The pride's? Before she could answer, her brother's reply had already come. She was shocked a little bit. Even if he didn't want a mother, they could always play. She watched as her father and Buu went towards Adamu, Buu following through. She followed after, listening to her sister's final statement.
A mother? Well, she hadn't really thought about that... She blinked back at the white lioness, as if... trying to decide. Glancing back at her siblings, she uttered just the smallest indecisive whine. However, when the larger female began to run, she turned and bounded after her as swiftly as her little paws would carry her. They'll never forgive me...
"Wait! Please!"
