Thousands upon thousands of years ago, this world was empty of life, only consisting of the warm, heavenly air of the upperworld, called Muspellheim, and the cold, frigid air of the underworld, known as Nifleheim. When the mana from each of the worlds met, a great seed was cultivated, which was blessed by a great, one-eyed god. The small seed grew into the giant Yggdrasil tree, and from that tree, the entire world was cultivated with life. The water that seeped from the Yggdrasil's roots also gave water to the rivers and seas and lakes, but only at Yggdrasil's roots was it the purest. From Yggdrasil, the first spirit was born, Frigg, the goddess of creation.
She ruled openly from her throne within Yggdrasil, centuries into the time of the world. Humans were born, and many other races. The gods grew and grew, but their ideals on shaping the world grew apart from each other, and it was the same for those living in the world of Asgard.
Because good and evil were existing amongst each other, a great war broke out, and it would have consumed the entirity of their world had not respected members of both sides pleaded for the war to stop, and ended up sacrificing their lives to make it stop. These courageous souls were allowed to become demi-gods, guardian dieties who would continue to help keep the world safe by helping individuals who could earn their power.
The war caused the gods to split the world back into two parts. The upper part where all the living dwelled was called Asgard, ruled over by Frigg, and the lower, where the undead, evil, and benign dwelled was called nifleheim, and was ruled over by Hel. The heavens where the gods dwelled were called Valhalla, and only the bravest and purest were admitted there as Einherjer, to become demi-gods themselves.
The world once more began to flourish. The good kept to themselves, the evil to themselves, until curiosity began to win the newer generations hearts, and they began to mix once more. Although the strife between the two sides was ebbed, something deep within the heart of the world stirs, a sleepless malice that threatens to consume both good and evil into its power.
Loki, the trickster god, has died, and his spirit remains, twisted and contorted in death, slowly seeping his malcontent upon both Asgard and Nifleheim. Though he lies dormant now, even the gods are not able to stop his reckless, malicious spirit if he should emerge. They now call upon you to once more save Asgard, and become an Einherjar.
Good, or evil you may be, they are merely both two different sides of the same coin.
