LOOK AT WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!
Sarah lay weakly in her hospital bed, with an ivy attached to her arm. She was hooked up to a heart monitor so the doctors could keep an eye on her vital signs. She had an oxygen tube in her nose to help her breath. The doctor said that she was getting better and would be able to walk in a couple of weeks, but Sarah could feel death creeping up on her as the night went on. Sarah glanced at her daughter, curled up in a chair next to her bed fast asleep. ‘What will happen to her?’ Sarah thought to herself. She had no friends that could take care of her daughter. They had all abandon her when they discovered her husband had left her when she found out she was pregnant with Becka. Her mother was dead, her dad, Karen, and Toby all died in a car accident years ago. Becka was fast asleep. She had never left her mother’s side. Ever since Sarah had gotten ill Becka was there for her. She had taken care of her while still managing to stay in school, and having a full time job to pay for the bills.
Sarah continued to look at Becka sleeping in the chair. Sarah devoted her last thoughts trying to think of people that would take good care of her the way she wanted her to be taken care of. Her thoughts drifted back to the memory of Jareth. She had not thought about him in a long time. Her heart ached to see him again. Then she knew what must be done. Sarah gathered her strength and said the words she swore she would never say. “Jareth, I need you.” she said weakly and coughed slightly. “well, well, well, what do we have here?” came Jareth’s voice from the opposite side of the bed. Sarah turned her head to see Jareth, standing next to the bed. He hadn’t changed a bit. He wore his underground style leather jacket, with gray tights. He wore his usual black boots and black gloves. His hair was still as wild as it was 20 years ago. His mismatched eyes gazed down at her. His face still held the smirky look on his face the way he always did, but when he saw Sarah in her weak state his face immediately fell. “Sarah,” he breathed. Sarah gave him a small smile. “it’s been a long time.” she told him quietly with regret filling her voice. Jareth walked closer to her and took her hand in his. He looked at her in her condition.
“Sarah what happened?” he said mournfully. Sarah looked up at him with sad eyes. “I don’t know.” she admitted in a quiet voice. “about a year and a half ago I got sick. I don’t know how It happened.” she paused before she spoke again. “Jareth, I’m dying.” she told him. He could not hide the pain in his eyes. “no, I won’t allow it!” he said with anger and pain rising in his voice as tears began to fill his eyes. “I’ll…I’ll…” Jareth grasped desperately for something he could do to prevent this tragedy from happening. “Jareth,” Sarah said softly, giving his hand a slight squeeze. “you know as well as I do that you can not heal people if you did not cause the problem.” she told him sadly. Sarah gasped slightly. Jareth looked worried. “I don’t have much time.” she told him. “I’ve called you here for a reason.” she told him. “tell me.” he said to her, eager to do anything to help her. “Jareth,” she began. “I want you to take care of my daughter for me.” Jareth was stunned. “your…daughter?” he asked in disbelief. Sarah saw the pain in his eyes and nodded regretfully. “he left me when he found out I was pregnant.” she explained to him, referring to her former husband.
Sarah turned her head to look at her daughter sleeping in the chair. Jareth turned his gaze as well. He saw the girl sleeping in the chair. She was beautiful. “is that her?” he asked, already knowing the answer. Sarah nodded as tears welled up in her eyes. Sarah sighed then spoke. “her name is Rebecca, but she likes to be called Becka.” she explained to him. Jareth continued to stare at her. “she looks like you.” he spoke softly. Sarah gasped again. Jareth glanced at the heart monitor. Her vital signs were getting fainter . She was dying. “Becka,” Sarah called out. Jareth quickly walked around the bed and shook the girl awake. The girl looked confused when she saw Jareth. Jareth only kept his gaze on Sarah. Becka turned her gaze to where he was looking, and she immediately was up by her mother’s side. She sat down on the bedside holding her mother’s hand. Sarah tried to stay calm for her daughter. “mom.” Becka said quietly tears beginning to fill her eyes. Sarah smiled at her. Then she lifted a weak hand to her face and gently wiped away the tears from her face. Becka took hold of her hand and pressed it to her face. “Becka, always remember that I love you.” she told her quietly. Becka tried to speak but couldn’t. only tried to stop the tears from flowing down her cheeks.
Sarah turned to look at Jareth. “Jareth,” she said her voice getting weaker. Jareth was by her side, holding her hand and pushing her hair away from her face. “take care of my baby.” she said quietly. Jareth only nodded trying not to let the tears flow down his face. Sarah took Jareth’s hand in hers. Then she turned to Becka and took her hand. She brought their hands together in the center of the bed. She placed Becka’s hand in Jareth’s. Becka looked at Jareth for the first time, And he looked into her tear stained face. He grasped her hand firmly. Then they both felt Sarah’s grip fade from thier hands as she went limp. They both immediately turned their heads to Sarah. “mom?” Becka asked. Sarah didn’t respond. “mom!” Becka cried. Becka broke down letting the tears flow from her eyes down her face. Jareth only looked at Sarah tears flowing silently down his face, not being able to accept that she was gone. He stroked her hair, and gently kissed her forehead, Silently saying goodbye to his dearest Sarah for the last time.
Jareth turned to Becka. She had completely forgotten that he was there. He looked at her weeping uncontrollably next to Sarah. Jareth desperately wanted to cry out in pain and sadness, but he couldn’t. Jareth walked around the bed and sat behind Becka as she continued to cry. Jareth gently drew her into his arms. She didn’t resist. Instead she clung to him in her pain and grief. She cried into his shoulder. Jareth only wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. She was the last thing of Sarah he had. He gently rubbed her back trying to comfort her, but in truth he needed comforting to. Becka knew nothing about Jareth being in love with Sarah. Although Sarah never said it to him, he knew she had loved him.
Eventually Jareth had transported them the short way to the chair. He sat on the arm of the chair and let Becka’s head rest on his leg still sobbing. Eventually she had fallen asleep, her head laying in his lap. Jareth stroked her long brown hair gently as she slept. Jareth’s heart was broken over the loss of Sarah. He stayed there the entire night. He needed to be there for Becka and he wanted to be with Sarah before he left her behind forever.
mon dieu, c'est vraiment... cheesy.Becka finally opened her eyes as the sun began to peak over the mountain tops. She was laying in her bed. She felt stuffy, and groggy. For a moment she thought that everything that had happened was only a dream. Becka remembered her mother and knew that what happened wasn’t a dream. Becka fought the tears this time. She held them back, clenching her fists, as the pain inside her tried to fight it’s way out. She reached for the rubber band she always wore on her wrist and snapped herself with it several times. Slowly the pain subsided as she inflicted pain onto herself. She had several times considered taking a razor and cutting herself, but a good friend of hers told to her never do that. Instead to just snap herself with a rubber band. It worked. Becka had been snapping her wrist with a rubber band a lot since her mother got sick. Becka sighed and then stood. She slowly walked down the stairs with a sad look in her eyes.
When she reached the bottom of he stairs she walked half way across the living room, when she noticed someone was sitting in the recliner. She stopped and looked at the figure sitting in the chair. He had a far off look in his eyes, he held his head in his hand, as his arm rested on the arm of the chair. Becka looked at him for one second and then screamed and fell back.
Jareth was brought out of his train of thought when he heard Becka scream. Then he looked at her on the floor. He stood and approached her. Becka backed up. Terror running across her face as he came nearer. She backed into the small table that leaned up against the wall. It held a few pictures and a vase full of fake flowers. Becka turned her head to see what had stopped her from moving away from the strange man. Then she grabbed the vase and held it over her head. Jareth stopped and frowned down at her in confusion. She was sitting on the floor looking up at him with a vase over her head as if she were ready to smash it over his head. She obviously couldn’t do any damage to him while she was sitting on the floor.
He looked at her for a moment. Then Becka realized that he was the man that was at the hospital with her that night. She had completely forgotten about him. She slowly lowered the vase as she began to breath normally again. The man smiled down at her and held out a hand to help her up. Becka looked at it then took it. He hoisted her up onto her feet. She looked up at him. He was taller then her. He was nothing like she had ever seen before. She looked at him in awe. Jareth looked at her as well. She was beautiful when she was asleep, but she was even more beautiful when she was awake. She looked more alive. She had deep sparkling eyes that were a bluish purple color. Jareth had never seen eyes this color, and they were beautiful. She had brown hair that had a medieval look to it. She was tall for a girl, but he was tall for a man. She had a dreamy look to her face.
They stood taking in each other’s appearances then when Becka realized that he was also looking at her she blushed and turned away. Jareth smirked slightly at her. He noticed that she would get embarrassed easily. Then she looked up a him again. “who are you?” she asked him. He smiled down at her then replied. “ I am Jareth, the Goblin King.” he told her bowing to her. Becka looked at him in confusion. Then answered rather oddly. “uh huh…okay? And I’m the fairy princess?” she said slightly sarcastically. Jareth looked her up and down as if taking her remark seriously. “no,” he finally said. “you're not stuck up enough to be that.” he said smirking at her. He was clearly joking, yet somewhat serious. Becka couldn’t figure him out. “uh huh,” she said. “how did I get here?” she asked him gesturing to her home. Jareth looked around as she gestured to the house. “I brought you here after you fell asleep. There was nothing left at the hospital for you and I, so I thought you should sleep somewhere comfortable. From what I can tell you’ve been spending your nights sleeping in that chair at the hospital.” he explained to her. Becka looked at him. “how did you know where I lived?” she asked eyeing him suspiciously. Jareth gave a small smirk. “I knew where your mother lived and figured that she still lived there.” he told her. Becka still eyed him suspiciously. “so…what do you want?” she asked taking a small step back.
For a split second Jareth’s face expressed pain, but quickly vanished back into his Goblin King face. “I’ve come to take you home.” he said bluntly. Becka was stunned for a moment then replied with a slight frown. “but…I’m already home.” she told him slowly, wondering if he had misunderstood himself. Jareth chuckled slightly. “no my dear, your new home. I’ve come to take you with me.” he explained to her. Becka stepped away from him. “your mistaken.” she told him frowning. Jareth took a step towards her.
“I’m afraid not.” he said. “your mother told me to take you home with me and take care of you.” he told her. Becka gave him a icy glare. “my mom did not say that. How stupid do you think I am?!” she asked angrily. “on the contrary my dear, your mother’s last words were ‘take care of my baby.’ you are her baby, and she wanted me to take care of you. that’s what I intend to do. Now I suggest that you pack your things so we may leave.” he said to her. Becka was shocked. Those
were her mother’s last words. But she didn’t want to go and live with this man. Becka looked up at him coldly. “I’m not going anywhere.” she said harshly and glared at him. Then she continued her way to the kitchen.
Becka was stopped suddenly by Jareth. How he had gotten in front of her so fast she didn’t know. He swiftly and easily slung her over his shoulder and picked her up. Becka, taken completely off guard began to thrash and yell. “put me down!” she yelled at him. Jareth ignored the blows that she was giving him on his back. He held onto her legs as he approached the door. He opened it and set her down. Then her turned to her to look out of the front door. Becka stopped. Her jaw dropped at the sight that lay before her.
What she saw was a giant maze. In the center of the maze was a castle made of stone. The sky was orange and yellow with clouds tinted with pink. It was unlike anything she had ever seen. She took one step closer to it. “it’s just like she described it.” Becka muttered softly to herself. “what was that?” came Jareth’s smooth voice. Becka shook her head when she heard his voice. “nothing.” she told him, then backed up again. She accidentally bumped into Jareth. She was so startled she turned abruptly and looked up at him. This time she knew who she was looking at. She was looking at the goblin king. The man that her mother told her in a story. Jareth only smiled and cocked his head.
“now, are you going to go pack your things, or shall we continue where we left off?” he asked smugly leaning down to sling her over his shoulder again. “no!” she cried out. Jareth stood up straight again and looked down at her. “I…I can’t just leave everything that I’ve known my whole life.” she said quietly almost pleadingly. Jareth looked at her sadly. “I’m afraid that’s what must be done.” he said gently. Becka turned away from him and looked back out over the labyrinth, which was to be her knew home. Tears welled up in her eyes again. She instinctively reached for the rubber band hanging on her wrist, but stopped when she realized that Jareth was watching her. She couldn’t look at him. Jareth lowered his hands on her shoulders. They were strong and warm. He spoke to her gently but firmly. “I suggest you go and pack your things.” he told her. She merely nodded slightly and started to head up the stairs. About half way up the stairs Becka could feels the tears beginning to trickle down her face. She bolted to the top of the stairs. She rushed to her room and closed the door. She leaned against the back of the door and snapped her wrist with the rubber band several times. Then she sighed. The tears went away, as the red welts appeared. Becka sighed and then looked around her room. She couldn’t get over the fact that she was leaving it for good. She went over to her closet and grabbed a backpack from it. She began to walk through her room, picking out only what she absolutely wanted.
She placed in the bag some fresh clothes, a diary she had been keeping forever. A scrap book full of pictures, mostly of her and her mother. She placed her sketch book, a file with all her favorite drawings, and a few pencils into the backpack as well. She went over to her vanity and took a few things from it. Her make up bag, a brush, a few scrunchies, and a charm bracelet that she had been adding to since she was eight. She decided to change her clothes. She was in her clothes from two days ago. They were wrinkled and dirty. She hadn’t had a chance to go home and change. Becka walked to the door and opened it. She looked around her room once more, and sighed. Then she descended down the stairs.
Becka reached the bottom of the stairs to find Jareth gazing at a picture that had been on the small table. He held it in his hand to get a better look at it. When he heard Becka approach he placed the picture back on the table and looked up at her. She carried her backpack in her right hand. Jareth stood only a moment to look at her. Becka began to blush again as he gazed at her. Then Jareth went to the front door and opened it. Instead of the beautiful labyrinth that she had seen ten minutes ago she saw a room made of stone, with a window that showed the orange yellow sky. Jareth held the door open for Becka. “my lady.” he gestured politely. Normally Becka would have objected to him calling her ‘my lady’ but she really didn’t care that much at the moment. She sighed and walked through the door, as Jareth followed her and closed the door behind him.
Becka found herself standing in the midst of a throne room. A dirty throne room, but a throne room non the less. She looked in awe at the medieval surroundings that lay before her. Jareth let her look for a moment then spoke. “follow me.” he said leading the way down a hall. Becka followed him as they walked down the hall. They turned several corners before they came across two door opposite of each other. They stood on opposite walls facing each other. Jareth opened the door on the right and walked in. Becka followed him into the room.
Becka’s eyes widened as she stepped into the room. It was a very large room. In the center of the room was a king sized bed, with lavender satin covers, and periwinkle pillows. A canopy covers the top of the bed. On the far side of the room, there was a giant window that allowed one to look at the entire labyrinth. In a corner of the room stood a wardrobe. On the wall next to the window there was a door and Becka knew that it was a bathroom. Next to the bed was a vanity table. The entire room was themed periwinkle and lavender, with pale green leaves carved and stitched into everything. Becka always thought those colors went perfect together. It reminded her a fairy forest. Jareth also had this color picked out because they matched her beautiful eyes.
Becka gazed around the room in awe. “this…this is my room?” she asked Jareth who was still standing next to the door. “yes.” he replied coolly, enjoying her reactions. “I… don’t know what to say.” she said turning to face Jareth. Jareth smiled. “say nothing. It is a gift.” he told her. “then thank you.” she said giving him a small sweet smile, but it quickly vanished and turned back into the sad pained expression again. Jareth saw this, Becka knew that. She tried to give him a reassuring smile to let him know she was alright. But Jareth could see right through her false smile. “Becka? Are you alright?” he asked her with a concerned look. Becka nodded her head. “mmhmm.” she told him still trying to smile. Jareth noticed her fingering a rubber band on her wrist. “I’ll leave you alone so you can get settled. I’ll send a servant to fetch you for dinner. See you then.” he said. He bowed slightly to her and left the room closing the door behind him. Becka reached for the rubber band and snapped her wrist. Immediately the tears that threatened to spill out on her face went away. She breathed a huge sigh of relief.
Becka walked over to the bed and sat down. She tried to grasp everything that had happened to her since last night. The memories of last night were fuzzy. But she remembered someone holding her as she wept. ‘Could it be?’ she thought. Could this firm stern goblin king, have been the kind gentle man last night? Becka shook her head to clear her thoughts. She tried not to think about her mother’s death. Instead Becka laid down and drifted off the sleep.
Jareth was lounging in his throne. Being the goblin king he had an image to keep, it did not take long for his grieving for Sarah to end. He still missed her and loved her deeply, but since he was immortal he did not waist much time on such emotions. He could spend eternity dwelling on the death of Sarah. He would still miss Sarah to the end of his days, but he had moved on. However that was going to be a different story with Becka. She was human, and not just any human, but a woman. Human women were very emotional Jareth knew, so her grieving would take time.
Becka woke up just as the sun was setting. “how long have I been asleep?” she asked to herself. “about eight hours.” a voice replied. Becka bolted up in bed. She jumped up so fast she fell off the side of the bed. She gave a slight yelp as she went down. Jareth heard a thud and he winced as he heard it. “ow!” Becka said from the far side of the bed. Jareth couldn’t see her from the other side of the bed, but he laughed at her reaction. Then he walked over to the other side of the bed to see Becka lying on the ground with one hand at the back of her head. He chuckled, then he leaned down and put his hands around her waist as he pulled her to her feet. “are you alright?” he asked with playful smile, while looking down at her. “I’ll be fine. I just…whoa” Becka clasped both hands to her head as it spun. She was immediately overcome with dizziness and her head ached from hitting it on the ground. Becka winced. She was still in his arms and he laid her down on the bed leaning over her. “why did you have to go and do that?” he mocked at her. Becka smiled through her headache and laughed a little. “I wouldn’t have fallen if you hadn’t startled me you big oaf.” she joked. Jareth raised his eye brows as he continued to smile down at her. “shifting the blame are we?” he asked mockingly. Becka only smiled then she closed her eyes in pain. “I’ll be alright, I just to lay down for a little while.” she told him. Jareth looked down at her. “by then dinner will be cold.” he told her. Becka looked up at him. “it’s alright I’m not hungry anyway.” she told him. This was true. Becka never ate when something was upsetting her. She had lost 15 pounds since her mother had gotten sick.
Jareth looked at her with a firmness to his face but yet still slightly joking. “you need to eat something.” he told her. “truly Jareth, I’m not hungry.” she insisted. “you need to eat something young lady. I will not allow you to become anorexic. That’s nothing but a slow way to die.” he explained to her. His arms were by Becka’s side supporting himself above her. “I’m not anorexic!” she told him sharply. Now she was getting annoyed. Jareth smiled smugly. “I never said you were, I simply said that you weren’t going to be.” he told her the smug tone still in his voice. Becka laid her head back on the bed. The pain still pounding. She gripped her head tightly trying to relax, so the pain would go away. Jareth frowned slightly, then he slipped one of his hands behind her head. Becka’s eyes flew open and for a split second she began to panic. Jareth kissed her forehead then he laid her head back down on the bed. As soon as he had kissed her head the pain left her. He looked down at her mockingly. “how’s that?” he purred to her. Becka was wide eyed. “h-how did you do that?” she asked him. “that’s not important. Come.” Jareth stood up and pulled her to her feet.
She was still stunned by what Jareth just did. Jareth walked over to the door and opened it. He looked back at Becka. Jareth raised his eye brows and gave a slight nod towards the door. Becka saw this, and walked to the door. They walked side by side down the halls. Becka had been expecting a fancy dining hall with crystal glasses and gold silver wear. Instead what she found was a small kitchen table and simple chairs. Becka sighed with relief. The kitchen was in the next room. Jareth pulled up one of the chairs and lounged in it comfortably. Legs crossing each other as they stretched across the floor. He crossed his arms as he watched Becka take a seat. A goblin brought out two plates with steaming hot food. It looked delicious. Becka only looked at it. Jareth however ate for all he was worth.
When Jareth had finished he noticed that Becka hadn’t touched her food. He cocked his head to one side as he looked at her. “is the food to your liking?” he asked her raising one eye brow. Becka turned to him when he spoke to her. Her beautiful bluish purple eyes glittered back at him. It took a moment for Becka to grasp the question he had asked her. “hm? Oh umm I’m just not hungry.” she told him. And it was the truth. Jareth looked at her for another moment then sighed. “if your sure.” he told her. There was another pause. “you look tired. I think it’s time you went to be.” he told her. Becka blushed. Why did he have to treat her like a little girl? Jareth smiled to himself. He loved seeing her blush. Becka stood up and started to walk to the door. Jareth noticed that she fingered the rubber band on her wrist. “good night Becka.” he called after her as she approached the door. Becka stopped in front of the door. “good night.” she muttered quickly then left the room.
Once Becka was safely outside the kitchen and the door was closed the quickly snapped the rubber band on her wrist several times. Becka sighed. She wanted out of the castle. She wanted to be outside. She loved it outside. At her home back in the aboveground Becka had an entire forest to herself. She spent a lot of her time there before her mother got sick. Becka ignored Jareth’s orders about her going to bed. For she had been asleep all day. Instead she wondered down several hallways looking for an exit out of he castle. Becka finally came across a door. She opened it and was relived when she saw a garden stretched out before her.
Becka left the castle and entered into the garden. The full moon was high in the sky, and lit the entire garden. Becka walked slowly through the garden, letting the cool night breeze brush across her face. Becka walked through the garden until she heard a humming noise. Becka stopped and the humming changed slightly. Becka looked around. It sounded as if there were thousands of whispers combined together to create one voice of music. Becka thought it was beautiful. Then the hum changed to the most beautiful sound. Becka enjoyed dancing. All kinds of dancing. Swing, ballroom, hip-hop, and exotic. The hum that Becka heard made her close her eyes and begin to dance. The dance was almost like a mime only there was no particular story to it. She danced gracefully across the grass. The dancing made her forget about all her troubles. Instead she expressed the emotions she had been bottling up inside her for so long. Forgetting about the strange world around her, as she let her emotions wash over her. As she continued to dance the music continued to get louder, and stronger. It was more beautiful then she had ever heard before.
Jareth was in his bedroom. He was thinking about Becka and how she had acted so oddly. A slight pang of worry began to grow inside him. He decided to check up on her. Jareth left his room and walked across the hall to knock on Becka’s door. “Becka?” he called gently. “Becka are you alright?” he asked as he knocked again. ‘She must be asleep’he thought to himself. He quietly turned the doorknob and opened the door. He walked in quietly looking to for Becka in her bed. He looked but the bed was still made. With a quick thought of panic he flicked his wrist and the lights came on. Becka was nowhere in the room. Jareth wasn’t sure if he was angry or panicked. ‘Where could she have gone?’he thought to himself. “when I find her-” he began to say in a menacing voice but then cut himself off. He heard something in the distance. He walked over to Becka’s window and looked out at it. Her room was on the fourth story. It had a beautiful view of the garden. Jareth looked and saw a ring of glowing purple light in the center of the garden. In the center of the glowing ring was a figure moving gracefully and swiftly as the music played. Jareth knew exactly who it was. He sighed with relief, as he realized that it was Becka, but then was overcome with rage. For she had disobeyed his orders, and nearly scared him to death when he didn’t know where she was. Jareth vanished from his place in the window.
Becka let her emotions run through her as she danced. She was completely oblivious to the real world as she danced. She danced and danced letting her emotions run through her veins. At one point tears began to flow down her cheeks from the emotion that swept through her. Jareth had been watching her with amusement as she expressed herself through her dance. Jareth took in every second of her emotions. He had never seen her opened up so much. He saw emotions of anger, grief, pain, love, sadness. All these he saw in her dance.
Becka’s eye had been closed the entire time, so she didn’t notice the goblin king watching her, until she bumped into him as she was dancing. She opened her eyes and looked up into the mismatched eyes of the goblin king. Her eyes showed fear and shock as she gazed into the goblin king‘s eyes. The humming abruptly stopped. Jareth smirked down at her. Cocking his head to one side and raising one eyebrow. “I had no idea you could dance so well.” he said clearly trying to make her blush. Becka didn’t respond, only turned on her heel and ran through the garden as fast as she could. Jareth was shocked for a moment then smirked in her direction.
Becka ran. She ran for all she was worth. This is what she had been wanting to do the entire time. She had wanted to run when she found out her mother was dying. She wanted to run when her mother died. She wanted to run when Jareth said she was going to live with him. And now she was finally getting the opportunity. Becka ran and kept running. Becka ran far, far away from everything behind her. She finally stopped when she ran out of breath and leaned behind a tree. She stared up at the night sky. How she wished her mother hadn’t died.
Becka felt the tears begin to well up in her eyes again. She snapped her wrist with the rubber band a few times. Then someone spoke next to her. “what are you doing?” he asked her. The laughter gone from his voice. Becka jerked her head up to look at him. He was leaning on his side against the tree, his arms and legs folded. One of his eye brows was raised high on top of his head. As soon as Becka jerked her head up to look at him she tried to run again, but Jareth grabbed her arm. She tried to struggle against him but he was to strong for her. “let me go!” she pleaded trying to push his hand off her arm. Jareth merely looked at her, then at her arm. He saw the rubber band hanging from her wrist. Then he pushed her sleeve up her arm, to revile the big red welts that she had been inflicting on herself.
Jareth’s eyes widened as he saw her arm, then he turned to her with an angry glare. He tried to hide the fear behind his anger but Becka saw a glimpse of a fear in his gaze. “Becka!!!” he yelled at her in anger. His mismatched eyes seemed to burn fire as the moonlight reflected off of them. Becka flinched as he said her name. He was clearly very angry with her. She only looked up at him, unsure whether to be angry or scared at this man. She only froze starring up at him, as he continued to glare at her and grip her arm tightly. “what is this?!” he yelled at her infuriated, holding her arm up slightly higher so she would know what he was talking about. Becka couldn’t take it any longer. She stood up to her full height and glared at Jareth. “it’s nothing!” she creamed in his face. “what does it matter to you?! Your not in charge of my life! Why don’t you just back off and leave me alone!” with that she jerked her hand away, and Jareth let go. Becka took off running. Jareth starred after to her. Regaining control of himself. She obviously had no idea what she had done. Jareth sighed and slowly walked after her.
Becka ran even though she had no more strength left in her. She collapsed on the ground. She tried snapping her wrists again but nothing could stop the tears from flowing down her face. Becka hid her face in her hands as she cried and cried. She didn’t hear Jareth approach her from behind. Jareth sat down next to her. He had regained his temper. “what do you want?” Becka asked bitterly. Jareth looked at her then frowned. He took her chin in his hand and forced her to look at him. “I am willing to put up with a lot of things, but lack of respect is not one of them.” he warned her firmly. Becka gazed into his eyes. She realized she had been a little disrespectful to the goblin king. Becka swallowed and gave him a slight nod, then she turned away, brushing the tears away from her face. Jareth waited a moment before breaking the silence.
“Becka, why would you inflict such dangerous pain on yourself?” he asked his voice ful of concern. Becka sniffed then answered. “ever since mom got sick I tried to be strong. I didn’t want to cry in front of her. She would only have been upset. Soon the pain got to much for me to handle. The thought of a razer entered my mind one to many times. I don’t know why or how, since I am not that kind of person, but I wanted to rid myself of the pain inside. My friend told me to use a rubber band instead. So ever since then I’ve had a rubber band around my wrist. I guess it became addicting. Anytime I was upset I would snap my wrist with it, and I would regain control of my emotions again.” she explained to him softly. Jareth looked at her with concern.
“inflicting pain is not how you should be dealing with your emotions.” he said gently. “in case you haven’t noticed my life has been pretty crazy lately. I can’t afford to loose control of my emotions.” she told him bitterly. “running away os not the answer.” he told her. “I’m not running away!” she said trying to defend herself. Jareth smirked. “oh? I seem to recal you running from me only a few minutes ago.” he told her with laughter in his voice, as he cocked his head to look at her. Becka didn’t smile at the joke. Then Jareth became serious again. “you were running away from your emotions by inflicting pain on yourself. Instead of stopping to work them out you ran from them. As you have been for a long time.” he told her gently. Becka didn’t look at him but felt the tear welling up in her eyes again as he spoke to her.
Jareth sighed then spoke again. “you have been putting yourself in danger all this time.” he said to her, his voice filled with anger, and fear, mixed with concern. Becka frowned at him. “I haven’t been cutting myself.” she told him bitterly as if he had not heard her. Jareth turned to her, his gaze firm, reviling his emotions of anger and fear. “no but it’s practically the same thing. If you snap yourself hard enough, it could cause a blood vien to burst. Causing swelling. And my dear if you knew anything at all you would know that your wrist is not something you would want to swell up.” he told her with a sharp tone of concern. Becka’s eyes widened. She had not thought of it that way, but knew that he was right. She turned away from his gaze, tears welling up in her eyes once again. She instinctively reached for the rubberband still wrapped around her wrist. Jareth saw this, and sighed heavily. He had to gain control of his temper. He had just been so worried about her. She would have eventually killed herself by accident, and Jareth would have never been able to forgive himself.
Jareth slipped his hand under Becka’s chin, this time more gently, and turned her head towards him. He inspected her sad face. “you need to rest.” he told her quietly. Becka sniffed then nodded and stood up. Jareth stood as well. Becka turned to walk back to the castle. “Becka.” he called gently to her. Becka stopped and turned around to face him. He took a step towards her. He was now only inches away from her. He looked down into her puffy red eyes. Without taking his gaze from her he reached for her hand. “I believe you have forgotten something.” he purred softly to her. His hand slid from her hand down her arm till it found the rubber band. Becka tried to protest. “Jareth please don’t…” she begged. Jareth removed the rubber band from her wrist. “oh Becka, you can’t run from your emotions forever. Soon you will have to face them or they will destroy you.” he told her softly yet sadly. Becka looked down at the ground. Jareth took her chin in his had and raised her head up to look at him. “but you don’t have to face them alone.” he said barely above a whisper. Becka only starred up at him. Then she found herself laying down in her bed. How she got there she did not know. Jareth leaned down and kissed her forehead. “good night.” he whispered to her. Then he vanished. Becka was left lying in her bed thinking about what had just happened. However she wasn’t able to think about it for very long. Soon Becka’s eye lids began to droop, as she drifted off to sleep.
I wish I could go, and correct the rest of it, but that would mean reading it. I can't. it hurts too much. D:
