From what I remember, you have to use ONLY magical attacks on that monster.

There are several monsters that will not Protect Break unless you either attack or use magic ONLY. Also, there are some monsters that are impossible to Protect Break.

Some monsters are indeed impossible to protect break for smoe reason.
