Keep in mind that MSD's (Mini-Super Dollfie) are usually less expensive then SD's (Super Dollfie). Secondly, there are so many places you can look into buying dolls.

Domya - They carry many brands and types of BJD, including Pullip and Blythe, and if you have the money they can even do FCS (Full Choice System)

There is Ebay and Yahoo Auctions, as well as the Japan Yahoo auctions which usually carries more Dollfie stuff. When Volks opens their store in LA (Side Note: Wouldn't it be incredible if they had FCS there?) there may be a more steady stream of Dollfie stuff in the American market.

There's also a store called 'Doll Hobby' or such along the lines, and they carry Volks and acessories including Mr.Super Clear. Which is a sealnt for face-ups, blushing and such. You can't go to a normal hobby store to buy this stuff, thought there are alternatives.

Or you can try to track down the actual manufacturer of the doll (Like Volks, Luts, Dream Of Doll, Happy Doll) and find their site. Many times they may offer it in English as well as Japanese or Korean...

You can always use this nifty tool to translate your URL's!
World Lingo - Translator
You may have to guess sometimes at what's being said, but most of the translations are pretty good

Personal Notes: Right now I'm trying to make my own BJD, and I'm looking into getting a DoD down the road, my DoD will cost me probably over $600 canadian, and he is a MSD size). Don't forget to check your grammar and spelling! It can get difficult to read...

Majda - Love your sig quote.

tsukiana - Dolls vary in price. I have one that I paid over $1100 USD for, and one that I paid $220 for. $500-700 is what I personally would call the 'average' BJD price, not including shipping and such. There isn't really a 'cheap' alternative in BJD collecting. There are less expensive options, but...no cheap ones. Best advice that you can get - and the advice EVERYONE will give you - is to browse around and find the doll that you feel the most connection to, then save up for it regardless of price. It will be worth it, trust me.

www.denofangels.com is a great resource site, but make sure you use proper grammar and spelling if you post in the forums there, as many of the users speak English as their second language and if you use poor English they won't be able to decipher it.

Majda - Love your sig quote.

I'm a youth-worker at my local AIDS Committee, It's severley warped my humour and mind..

Another Dollfie alternative:
Vinyl dolls, though not the traditional Resin-Based BJD that most of us know and love, some of the Vinyl Dolls by Volks (can't remember the name) can look gorgeous...

But as said before, just save up..
Oh! Another thing you can do...Is slowly buy the pieces, it takes more time, probably more expensive in the long run, and you have to do most of the customization yourself...but if you have enough money to buy a head, buy a head. Save up for the body...get it in bits and pieces if you know it will take you to save up a lump sum.

Also, if you can handle it, you could also buy an 'unassembled kit'...They're usually a bit cheaper than the fully assembled, but it's hard work.

Most of these tips are for advanced users, but it could be useful..

Luts English Site

This site is great! The dolls are cheaper than Volks and are absolutely beautiful! However, since you don't want to pay $550, then these are still out of your range. It will be extremely hard to find a doll that cost less than $300 and the ones that are are minis and junior sized dolls. Buying dolls by the piece will probably be more expensive, but it may only be your only alternative.

i say to everyone buying a bjd, even though you may find one for around 300, after shipping+handling, wigs and clothings, expect to spend 500+ on whatever sort of bjd it is, because you will eventually heart
