They're just different dialects. Things are pronounced differently. Come from generally different regions.
The winner of the race = rat. =D The origin of the different years. The story of the race. Mmm... I don't remember the details. Google it. It's not too hard to find.

*Looks at all the Mandarin and Cantonese..*
*Thinks she'll stick with German and her smattering of Japanese* ..
Akemashie omedeto gozaimasu!
Alles Gute zum Neuen Jahr
..Ok so perhaps those aren't literal translations.
The German one is wishing good things on the new year...
But it's the same thing! And it would look funny to any Germans who happened to randomly stumble upon my post in this mostly English site.
You never know.
It's so long untill the year of the snake! In fact, I really don't remember the last year of the Snake! gonk

I found a nifty chart that shows all the symbols, AND how to use them. mrgreen

You Windows kids.
I think you press and hold Alt while typing the numbers on the number pad. After that, you release Alt.

What he said. Hold alt until you finish typing the numbers and then release it.
Oh. Also: ¿ = alt 168 ¡ = alt 173
If for some reason, you want caps... Ñ = alt 165 Á = alt 0193 É = alt 114 Í = alt 0205 Ó = alt 0211 Ú = alt 0218
