Title: Beach Fun for the Frog Author: Chibi Envy Chan Pairing: Noah/Edgar Rating: PG Warnings: No plot with a lot of fluff. Summary: Fleance takes Edgar to the beach for some relaxation, but someone has something else in mind. One-shot.
This is my first attempt at writing in first person present. It’s also my first Pandect fic and from Edgar’s POV so I may have written him OOC. X.x I tried.
Chibi doesn't own Pandect or any of the characters. They belong to Dina Situ.
--------------------------
Coming to the beach has become one of my prince’s favorite past time. He loves building sand castles (lawn ornaments included), going out for a swim, or playing with the cubs (gasp!). It puzzles me as to why he has taken a liking to the water. Aren’t cats supposed to hate water? Then again, my prince is no ordinary feline; he’s the Black Prince, the judge.
But at the same time, he’s more than that. He’s kind and gentle. I know he may seem distant and at times cold, but he really does care about his friends, sometimes befriending potentially dangerous people. Nonetheless, I trust my prince. He has been lenient with me when I make mistakes. Normally princes punish disobedient servants. My prince tells me to do better next time, and I won’t fail him twice.
Seeing my prince having fun is worth all the work I know I’ll receive. He has the burden of determining the fate of so many aces. Some may envy him for his position. I pity them for their ignorance. They don’t know how much responsibility that goes with such a high rank. I know, I’ve seen first hand. After all, I am the Black Prince’s servant. It isn’t an easy job, but someone has to do it.
I clench my hands into fists upon the sight of that human near my prince. If he know what’s good for him, then he’ll keep his paws off Fleance. There is no way Edgar’s going to let his prince be taken advantage of. I don’t trust that human, not with the disease. I suppose it’s easy to blame the disease, but he should really have more restraint.
As soon as the human is distracted by the dog when Ice splashes him, I relax a little. Maybe I should join my prince instead of lying here on the beach. Fleance says I can stay here for as long as I want and that I’ve been working too hard. I don’t fully understand Noah’s view on servants. Then again, I have Fleance for a master. Guess, I’m fortunate enough to be picked by him.
A presence behind me startles me, and I move to defend myself when that person easily catches my arm and holds it. Whoever this person is, he or she has a lot of muscle.
“Relax, Frog, it’s only me.”
Frog? Haven’t we gone through this already? I’m not a frog! Pressing my lips into a thin line, I whirl around to give him a piece of my mind. Sadly, those words died on my lips as my servants training kicks in. It also doesn’t help that he’s very sexy in his beach attire. I’m not to look into a high ranked ace’s eyes, nor am I to talk back.
Instead, I lower my gaze to his feet and nervously twist my hands before dropping them to my sides. “Edgar apologizes for nearly hitting you.”
I hear a scoff. “As if you can seriously hurt me. I’m a gladiator. Anyways, my feet aren’t that interesting.”
“Well…”
“Gah! I told you, you can drop the formalities when you’re with me. Sheesh, do I have to remind you every time?”
Edgar can feel the heat rising to his cheeks. Here he is, Noah the Legendary Gladitaor, treating me like an equal. It’s like a dream, but only better. I don’t deserve this kind of treatment. Why is he treating me this way? It makes me attracted to him. Not only is he handsome and strong, but he’s fair, caring, and loyal.
“Wow, I never knew I had such interesting feet.”
I slightly raise my head to where I can see his knees. “You are a very interesting person, down to every part.” What on Pandect has possessed me to say that?
Before I know what happened, I’m looking into his dark eyes. My heart rate increases as does my breathing. I swear my throat has become as dry as a desert.
“Every part, eh?” An amused smile makes its way across his face.
“Yes, every part,” I repeat as I try to nod my head. His hand holds my chin in place, keeping our gazes locked. I try to look everywhere except into his eyes, but he has other things in mind. Not that I’m eager to break out of his grasp. It’s both exciting and nerve wracking. My logical side tells me that I should know my place, but my emotional side says to enjoy it while it lasts.
Noah smirks. He’s up to something. I can feel it. “Is that so?”
Almost immediately, I attempt to answer his question; however, I end up slightly nodding my head. My voice has decided to abandon me and take a vacation or maybe a very, very long one.
“In that case, why not gaze into my interesting eyes?” The gladiator casually suggests.
‘Because I am a lowly servant and you’re an amazing, legendary gladiator. Edgar is not worthy.’ That’s what I wanted to say. Instead, high pitched squeaks escape from my throat. ‘Dammit!’
Rather than be annoyed with my behavior, Noah chuckles and removes his hand from my chin. I miss his gentle touch already. “Cat got your tongue?”
In response, I blush and attempt to think of a way to escape. Let’s see, the prince doesn’t require my service, and he hasn’t given me any assignments. As a matter of fact, he orders me to take time off. After all, servicing two people is hard work.
That sounds so wrong.
Edgar, get your mind out of the gutter! NOW!!!
“I’m good,” he croons as he closes the gap between us until we’re almost standing on each other’s toes. “And I’m not even touching you.”
I swear I must be going through a thousand shades of red. He probably thinks I’m crazy or something. “Edgar’s prince… he may… he may be watching.” Instead of looking into his eyes, I begin to play with my shirt. Thankfully, my prince has seen to it that Edgar receives a second outfit since he stays in ace form longer and more often.
Noah moves even closer in spite of my warming. He doesn’t seem to care, or maybe he knows something I don’t. Either way, I anxiously fidget with my clothing and move back in attempt to create a non-existent barrier between the two of us.
“He doesn’t mind,” Noah comments casually. Before I know it, a pair of muscular arms wrap around my waist, preventing me from fleeing, not that I want to.
“The Prince.”
This time Noah laughs. “Frog, I told you he doesn’t mind.” He nuzzles me as I attempt to locate my prince.
The snake is wrong, but I can’t tell him that. Fleance is too occupied to even notice us. I want to call out to him; however, Edgar wishes to spend more time with the snake, considering he has been busy with servant duties, and the young gladiators are on vacation.
“Prince isn’t looking,” I manage to protest. His pause surprises me. Have I done something to offend him? Oh no, what if he talks to the Prince? What do I do?
Instead of hitting Edgar, Noah moves me to another position and pulls us even closer as if that’s even remotely possible. What is he up to?
A hand cups my chin once again and pulls it in the direction of Noah’s face. I think Edgar may faint anytime now and wishes to do so. He leans closer as if to kiss me.
The seconds feel like an eternity as his lips descend onto mine. Is he purposely drawing this out to torture poor Edgar? I try to look everywhere except his sexy body and those firm lips. A centimeter away, he yelps and glares in a direction, releasing me at the same time.
I stand dumbfounded by his unexpected reaction. Then I look down to find a Frisbee of all things. Just then, Ice crests the small sand hill.
“Hey, can you toss it back here?” The dog ace loudly requests.
In response, Noah picks up the innocent circular object and throws it into the ocean. “Fetch!”
“What was that for?!” Ice angrily shouts, waving his arms as if he’s a bird ace and can fly. He looks quite ridiculous and is causing quite a commotion. “That wasn’t nice!”
“Serves you for ruining the moment,” Noah hisses loudly.
It takes me a moment before it finally dawns on me. I giggle at the thought. My train of thoughts is side tracked when the two enter a verbal spar.
Today is a good day.
