Here you will find a list and brief description of some basic tools in Wicca. Please feel free to add any information that you deem necessary! (Some (not all) of the text is from Scott Cunningham's book "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner").

Athame
This knife usually has a steel, double-edged blade, it's often dull, and has a black or dark handle. Black asorbs power. This knife is not used for cutting purposes in Wicca, it is used to direct raised energy during rites and spells. It is an instrument or commanding and power manipulation.

Some Wiccans engrave their knives with magical symbols, although this is not necessary. As with most magical tools, the knife becomes powerful by your touch and usage. If you so desire, however scratch words, symbols, or runes onto its blade or handle.

Bolline
This white-handled knife is simply a practical, working knife as opposed to the purely ritualistic magic knife. It is used to cut wands or sacred herbs, inscribe symbols onto candels or on wood, etc.

Broom
Witches use brooms in magic and ritual. It is a tool sacred to both the Goddess and God. The broom is usually used before rituals to "sweep" away negative energies and astral buildup and is also used for the same purpose when cleansing or purifying a room.

Wand
The wand has most of the same uses as the Athame does. You do not need both a wand and an athame. Only of them of them will be sufficient. You can make your own wand by finding a tree limb (about the length from your elbow to the tip of your middle finger, or whatever suits you best), and sanding it down. You can even paint it or inscribe symbols, letters, etc. Some of the most common wood types for wands include willow, elder, oak, apple, peach, hazel, cherry, etc.
