Cecil lay atoop the back of a large, black gryphon, head hidden within the fur of her neck.He mumbled something to the gryphon, though it was muffled by her fur.
Mia turned her head slightly to look at the human on her pack, snorting a bit as he spoke and looking back at the city looming ahead.they would be within it in a matter of minutes. The gryphon gave a loud yawn, they had been traveling for quite some time, and the lazy human had rested most of the night while she carried him.

Despite the darkness and the mostly empty streets a red headed woman was still atop a platform not too far into the village. She was talking to a man that held the reins to a gold and black gryphon, a prize specimen, though still adolescent. She was giving him care instructions, and he nodded as she worried over the youngling. Soon after the man finally left. The young gryphon hesitated, pulling on the lead, not wanting to leave the woman. She smiled and knelt next to it, petting it gently.
"Go with him, sweetheart. He's going to take care of you." She stood and slowly the gryphon understood. Looking sad, it hesitated. Turning it followed the man obediently, but looking back constantly just in case she changed her mind. But she didn't, and allowed the baby to go to his new home of being a pet and a show gryph. She knew he would be happy, she had done the background check and the man had a history with gryphons. A good history, which was important.
Stepping off the platform, she wiped tears from her green eyes. Out of the shadows a fox-like gryphon appeared out of, the black scarf about his neck blowing in the wind. His fur and feathers were a dull russet, like a fox and didn't gleam in the moonlight like typical gryphon feathers. He wasn't a show species at all. Legs were longer than usual and his wings and beak had a slightly odd shape. Why a renowned breeder (not as renowned as the heartless Nikki, bless her soul) would keep one like him around, no one knew for sure.
"Renarvos, this just gets harder each time." She walked up to her companion and buried her face in his neck as she hugged him. He leaned down and nibbled on her hair gently.
"I know. I'm going to miss him too." She frowned and fought back tears again, "We lost two of our babies today. We're going to have to get ahold of more eggs sweetie."
She stepped around and swung up onto the saddle that renarvos had upon his back, "Let's go." Renarvos turned and started walking out of town. Seeing a strangely colored gryphon with someone on her back, Renarvos clacked his beak in a warning to his rider. She responded immediately, "Whose there?" She called to the approaching duo that seemed to be entering town. It was a little late to be traveling, she thought.

Cecil raised his head slightly and grabbed the side of Mia's neck."Are we at a town yet.."His face fell back into the fur of her neck as a lour growling came from his stomach. It had been a good couple days since they had a good meal.He sighed into Mia's fur.Just as he was about to slip into a light sleep he heard a voice ahead of them.
Mia raised her head and tilted it slightly to the side, eyes staring intently ahead as the pair ahead. Her tail lashed sideways as she slowed her pace, coming to a halt a good few feet away from them. She looked the two over, beak opening slightly as she tasted the scents of the pair.
Cecil pushed himself up, staring ahead at a pair of lights, a gryphon and a human.Atleast he thought it was a gryphon, hunger was really dulling his senses, but there was a human, she had spoken. He put on a friendly smile and raised a hand in greeting."Just a couple travelers."

As though no one has thought of that one before She thought to herself, then immediately felt guilty for doubting the man. It wasn't -that- late, and she herself was wandering the streets at night with a gryphon. Still, she decided to not use her real name just yet. Some would assume (and rightly so) that she carried a lot of money on her, especially after an auction day.
Hearing the grumble of the mans stomach she felt pity for him right away. One couldn't fake a hunger growl like that, "Would you like me to escort you to a tavern? I know a few good ones that are open late around here that will also supply your ride with food." She offered genuinely, turning Renarvos so his side was facing the wandering duo as a show of peace.

Cecil nodded."If it is not too much trouble.Im not familiar with this area, I don't believe we have been around here before."He patted the side of Mia's neck.
Mia watched the two, the tip of her tail twitching every few seconds. Her ears flicked back at the pat on her neck, then perked forward again. She took a few steps forward, head cocked to the side. She would follow them, Cecil wished it, but she wasn't sure about these strangers just yet.
