Name: Vladimir Szántó
Appearance: Standing a touch above average height and built a bit on the thin side, with olive skin and black hair that curls loosely and never quite clean shaven. He has a sharp nose and a face with well defined angles, but the lines of it are softened with warm hazel eyes and an equally warm and often contagious smile.
Personality: Vlad appears to be the epitomy of the free spirited gypsy, who plays at being the likable rouge. He can be quite charming, and just genuinely likable, and tries his very best to get along with everyone. He keeps the rest of his world extremely private however, and if in a bad mood he will withdrawl - and if he has no where to hide becomes quiet and inattentive. He doesn't like to talk about himself, and would rather encourage others to speak instead, making him into a good listener and tempting confidant.
World: Type AB- .... I mean Type A with the possibility of mysticism of the sort you find in hungarian folktales. Post World War I, Hungary/Eastern Europe/Europe.

history: His history for me is up in the air right now. I'm working on it, but he isn't yet comfortable with a backstory. All I've settled on so far is that he's a Romani born in Hungry and that he's somehow lost his family and caravan and goes it alone. He's very in touch with the old stories and the old ways, and has a deep respect for magicians and fortune tellers.
Skills:
(a note that in general this plan doesn't call for Vlad to learn to much NEW, its more a process of gaining confidence, his own in himself and other peoples in him)
Stage 1: Vlad has a way with people, and with a miriade of parlor tricks (the pulling coins from behind kids ears sort, or handing ladies flowers from nowhere), a handsome face, and a quick smile he's a great guy to hand out fliers and drum up interest in the show.
Stage 2: Vlad plays the violin, and plays it wonderfully. Vlad becomes the prelude and postlude to the show, playing for gathering crowds, and for patrons drifting away after the show. He could also accompany various acts...every circus needs music!
Stage 3: If every circus need music, every circus also needs a grand maestro. Vlad choreographs shows, composes music, and is in general the leader of the band.

reference and inspiration
The band "Boiled in Lead" The Decemberist's CD "The Crane Wife" the novel "The Gypsy" by Steven Brust the novel "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaimain An obsessive love of eastern european violin music Russian Caravan tea
Note:
Vlad is a character that reappears in things for me now and again, a wondering gyspy musician who strolls his way through my RP and art. Just at the moment, in some other place, he and Annuska are becoming part of the same story in my head, and may someday become a comic or something similar.
