Dearest Artfags,
_____I bring you here some samples of my art which I wish for you to help me
with. Some of you may have seen it before but I come with a different
purpose: I wish to quit drawing animu like a weeaboo ******** help me. I'm sick of my cliche` art style and wish so desperately to
branch off into something more stylistic or realistic without properly
drawing 'Realism'. I am not an art f** yet. I hope, instead, to aspire to be
one within the next three years. That will give me six years of non-formal
training (aka: teaching myself) and should be at least close to enough. I
have been drawing animu for two years and am sick of it.

-Stop it. For chrissakes stop the crappy animu.

I lol'd

There's nothing wrong with drawing the "animu" personally, it doesn't really make you any less of a artist, and if you're so wanting to quit it, just do it, simple as that. Though, if you are honestly longing to improve, the only sure fire way of improvement in my book is to go back to your basics (cause things like style will happen during said process in my opinion). Working on figure, anatomy, composition, line, form, perspective, and color theroy....teh werks. Aquire a sketchbook, and start doing gesturals of people in the park or mall, with emphasis of movement and form over actually finishing it finetooth. Read a good figuredrawing book, Hogarth, Bridgeman, Goldfinger for example. The key is to DRAW FROM LIFE! Also, don't be afraid to push outside your comfort zones every so often, cause it limits your potential as a artist when you do.

Keratin isn't here, so:

Stop feeling so damn sorry for yourself and draw some pictures.

Now that that's out of the way, if you have no access to reliable life-drawing opportunities, even photographic reference for anatomy and faces could be helpful.

I don't feel sorry for myself! I'm just tired of how I draw. There's nothing to hold my art together or to bind it all as mine. It's the same as everyone else's, really. XD

But I will try and take your advice: going back to the basics and back to realism. I used to be somewhat decent with that. Couldn't hurt to try it again, now, could it?
Thanks. <3
...for the obvious answers that I was just too dumb to see. =_= *gnaws on own skull*
