Kimia yawned as she uncurled from her afternoon nap. Her big, pink eyes blinked open and she looked around slowly. She sighed contently, the troubles of her recent past were easily forgotten. Or perhaps pushed aside, more than forgotten. The pridelands were very nice, and as were all of the lions inside of it. She stood and stretched, tail flicking.

She was ready to explore today, after several days of staying in one very small area of grasses. She began to walk, humming. It seemed she didn't have a care (or thought, for that matter) in the world. She was at ease, that is... until her large eyes fell upon a butterfly. "Gitchi!" She cried out happily, suddenly picking up her pace as she followed it. It glided along though, and evaided each attempt at her catching it.

Sooner than she knew it though she was entering a rather dusty looking place. She frowned and slowed down, attention pulling from the butterfly as she looked around. "Where did I go?" She said out loud, frowning. What was this place?

Lysander picked his way carefully through the bones of the outer graveyard. His dark little mane tuft fell into his eyes again and again, and he paused to brush it out of his face. Taking a look around, the cub realized he was lost. Though he was born here, he hadn't traveled far from the den before.

He spotted a large thighbone, and padded towards it. Maybe if he climbed up on it, he could see the large elephant skull that served his family for a home. As he scrambled awkwardly up onto it, something else caught his eye... another cub. Freezing, he ducked down a moment and watched her. Not someone he'd ever seen before... but she was his age, or a little older, so she couldn't be very dangerous. Or at least any more dangerous than Froth. Muttering darkly about his mean sister, Lysander slipped down the other side of the bone and padded cautiously towards Kimia.

Kimia padded toward a few of the large bones, scattered here and there. Her fur seemed to be poofed up slightly, but she was still a small little thing. Came with the territory of being malnourished after birth, didn't it? Her eyes moved over the bones and her face desplayed a quiet sense of both fear and awe. "Bones?" She asked herself, or perhaps the air around her. She'd never seen bones this big before.

"Maybe..." She tried to imagine what could be this big when she suddenly smelt someone else. Her head jerked right, left, over her shoulder... oh wait! Her gaze darted back toward the left, where the dusty cub was approaching her. She seemed to crouch into the dirt for a nervous moment before standing freely again. "H...hello!" She called out, standing her ground though.

Lysander eyed the other cub warily, approaching her very slowly and carefully. She looked a little scared. Maybe she was lost, too?

"Hello," he said quietly, looking around cautiously again. You could never be too careful in the graveyard, as far as Lysander was concerned. Froth had told him a lot of scary stories about hyenas.

"Do you live here?" he asked at last, coming to sit a couple of feet away from her. He curled his tail around his forepaws and continued to watch her with serious green eyes.

She shook her head slowly, not uttering a single word. As he looked around she did too. Was something sneaking about or something... was that why he was checking things out? He'd come from... well from deeper into the graveyard. So maybe he was the one that lived here. "I live in the pridelands." She said, shrugging her shoulders lightly, still just staring at him. Should she sit too? "What is this place?" She asked, almost whining. "Do you live here? It's scary looking.." Ah that was at least a little more normal, her speaking pace was picking up.

After a minute she sat, looking more uncomfortable than before though.

Lysander tilted his head slightly, mane tuft flopping comically over one eye. The Pridelands? He wasn't sure where that was. He might have heard his parents mention it at some point...

"The Elephant Graveyard." He replied slowly, tailtip flicking. He ignored the 'scary' comment. He'd never been out of the graveyard, so he didn't have anything to compare it to.

"Yes, I live here." He said with a nod, and then added a bit smugly, "My parents are the king and queen." He shifted slightly, the dark tribal-looking mark on his shoulder facing Kimia for the first time. Noticing this, he turned back, his ears folded slightly. He couldn't let her see that he was cursed!

What was a graveyard? She looked around again, some of the nervousness draining out of her. Well if he lived here then it couldn't be so scary. "King and... queen?" She asked, looking troubled. Should she know those words? Why did he turn away! She stood and moved toward him a little.

"I don't have a mommy or daddy. My mommy is very tired.. she'd still sleeping..." What she didn't know was that her mother would never wake up. And she'd never met her father, so it didn't really bug her. "My name is Kimia."

Lysander looked a little less nervous, as well. She hadn't noticed the mark, anyway.

"It means they run the pride," he explained, padding a little bit closer. "Don't they have a king and queen where you live?" What a strange girl. She didn't have parents and didn't know what a king and queen were! Lysander shook his head.

"Sleeping?" he repeated, looking confused. He didn't know anything about death yet, despite living in the graveyard, so he failed to make the connection.

"My name is Lysander." He supplied, offering Kimia a rather awkward smile. At least she was nice! Not like Froth.

"Sander." She repeated, though shortening it to make it ultimately easier for her. She was thinking about the pridelands, she didn't know much about that place either. "I don't know!" She said honestly, surprised. Maybe they did, but she'd never met them.

She nodded. "Sleeping. But I lost her... And now I don't know where she's asleep... so she could have woken up.." She frowns slightly, a little upset. What if her mama never found her again? Best not to think of that.
