The end of the Tournament as Overlord marked the turn of a new age. Time was for once peaceful in the demon's realm and although time continues to boil on not all lives are good. In the seven years that the lord of the Makai has ruled, there has been mild chaos in demon world itself. The legendary bandit has been 'brought from the grave' and now terrorized the old stakes.
'Youko Kurama has returned'

A flustered with torment the new Lord, in charge for a year thus far, has ordered a bounty upon the head of the Ghost Fox. No success to be found the bounty grows by days. There's no wonder why they haven't found Youko Kurama to Hiei, border guard still and merry at his post, for Kurama is in Human world, and returning was not his plan.
Alibi strong for the spirit fox, there is no face to the Ghost Fox and thus concluded Hiei, another upstart has stolen Kurama's name. With this knowledge the little fire demon set out to warn his old companion in arms and upon doing so, Kurama shows no surprise but merely sorrow. Hiei returns without word nor lesson from his friend and on his return he learns of a terrible scheme. A small band of demons plan to go in and attack the fox at his home base, human world. Hiei, as guard, was informed immediately after return and he now sets out to stop the band and do his duty as guard of the boarder.
Back in the human realm, Botan visits her old friends, Yusuke and Kuwabara and tells them of the injustice wishing their aid considering Kurama is mute and bids the band of ruffians to his door. Distraught by their friends lack of action the group sets out to the demon realm to aid the fire demon and wish only they get there before Hiei leaves on his own.
