Sea-Salt Ice Cream
Well...though one could point out both Dulcy's abusive husband/boyfriend (not sure what he was considered), and Elias being a teen dad,
Don't forget that that's been ret-conned to
step-dad since - which I thought was a
very cheap cop-out, since they'd have known their audience when they drummed he plotline up.

I really don't think Archie would risk losing alot of readers due to a more adult storyline, at least in terms of mature content.
Don't forget that Dulcy's not the only character who's dealt with domestic violence - we got to see Draco slapping Hershey around back in the day, too.
To be honest, especially now that she's happily married with St. John and gotten all independent and confident, I'm surprised that we haven't seen her giving some sort of talk to the Knothole kids on what's acceptable behaviour within a family, or having some sort of private girl talk with Dulcy, or even telling Sally that "the slap heard 'round the world" back in 134 wasn't the best way to deal with things.
Although to go back on topic: I think it's fairly well established that stuff goes on off-panel that the younger readers might not spot but the older ones can use their imaginations for - remember Scourge and Bunnie spending the night together?
But as far as relationships go, I'm actually quite relieved that the Knothole cast actually now
are acting like a bunch of hormonal teenagers, rather than having been expected to meet The One at fourteen or whenever.
Sonic's not a "playa" or whatever - he's a seventeen year old kid doing what his hormones tell him, because the girls're out there who'll let him. They're a dime a dozen in every high school.
Yes, you get the occasional couple like Bunnie and Ant who can make puppy love work, but - even if it gives overtones of Riverdale - it makes more sense to me to let the characters grow by interacting with other people.
