okay.. I read an interview with Ville talking about the new album....

the song list is still being discussed and they are thinking of bring out 6 songs as singles. The first single is most likely to be "Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly"

Definate tracks for the album include:-

-Drunk on Shadows
(VVquote "It sounds like if the Beach Boys started playing heavy metal before Black Sabbath did. There's a lot of harmony, but we wanted to have a really creepy, cinematic soundscape feel to it.")

-The Face of God
(VVquote "We want all of our songs to have all the elements of what we do, so if an alien-race heard just one they'd know what we were all about. This is a good example, because we've got crazy, spooky samples and keyboards creating this kind of John Carpenter horror movie vibe.")

-Under the Rose
(VVquote "When I was working on it I had that Radiohead song, 'Street Spirit', stuck in my head. It's super-melancholic, but it's got a punkish, heavy-rock feel to it. And it's the first time we use electronica. Kind of like Massive Attack on a very bad day.")
(Any one who heard this song at a HIM gig in Bristol is going to be very surprised: it's one of HIM's heaviest ever)

-Dark Light
(VVquote-"We've been talking about this being the title-track for the whole album. It's one for the ladies out there. It's the most sentimental and poppy song on the whole album, but it's still pretty heavy. Sweet and nice, but broody, disturbing lyrics."

-Vampire Heart
(VVquote "I love that title because it's very goth, and that's alright because that's such a big influence for us. It sounds like a mix of [director] John Carpenter's 'Halloween' and Sisters of Mercy's 'Alice'. And it's got the first thrash-metal riff we've ever had on an album!")

-Killing Loneliness
(VVquote "We had a really hard time working this out and finalising the lyrics. It's like something My Chemical Romance did on 'Helena'. Very melodic, very anthemic in the chorus, and some very rocking bit's you'd hear [guitarist] Zakk Wylde doing with Ozzy Osbourne. It's really heavy")

-Play Dead
(VVquote "This is our only proper ballad on the album. It's a bit like what we did with 'Sweet Pandemonium' before. It's like This Mortal Coil meets Black Sabbath - a weird lullaby that you'd never want to play for a kid.")

-Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly
(VVquote "This is one of my favourites because it's so celebratory. It's really sweet and ******** up - like when cute little kids rip off a butterfly's wings. It's philosophical, but with a bit of Michael Jackson's 'Billy Jean' in the verses")

-Behind the Crimson Door
(VVquote "That's a goth track. I wrote the lyrics in five minutes sitting on a hill in LA having a moment of inspiration. We call it 'Kajagoogoo' when we first started playing it, because it's got a slightly cheesy begining, but when the guitars kick in it's super-heavy. It acknowledges how wide our influences are.")

-In the Nightside of Eden
(VVquote "This is our big epic and we have a choir too! It's about still having a dream but nobody knows what that dream is anymore. It's just about the politics of the heart, but it's not political.")

Ooo, that's awesome.
I'm too cheap to buy Kerrang! anymore, so I only scanned the article while standing in Asda.
Thanks for that.

lol... yeah, I do that also smile The cost of Magazines are getting ridiculous... I'm a tattoo collector and buy 2 different tatt mags a month and they are like $15 each, and considering that most mags these days are targeted to the teen population... either that or I'm just a tight a** lmao!!
Anyway... glad to be useful biggrin
