Ooh, I might be able to answer this one. For some reason ALL the FMV's etc are coded onto disc one. There's a terrible 'cheat' where you can randomly view any sequence from the whole game by playing around with the open/close whilst viewing sequences during the events of disc one.

This MIGHT be why you can something in disc one that really shouldn't show up till disc two.

I have not done this in about 5 years, and it's not really a good idea as it can screw up your PSX (not sure about PS1) so can't entirely remember how it's done without trudging through old FF7 files... so I could be wrong.

((Also, I might add I'm distracted by the ever funny Scrubs right now.))

I was under the impression that glitch was achieved by switching the disks around when an FMV sequence was about to occur, I know what you mean but I don't think that's how you do the glitch correctly. Uno momento, I will check myself soon.

Apparently the programmers WERE originally going to make it possible to revive Aeris at some point during the end or something, but time restraints stopped them, and they played it up like it was supposed to happen.

Honestly, I can't. However, prove me wrong.

Certainly.

Seeing as reviving Aeris would result in the death of everyone at the end of the game, it is impossible seeing as she uses the life-stream to aid Holy in stopping Meteor.

Also, seeing as you can't save the game after it is completed, this would make it impossible to revive her 'sometime near the end' or after the game has been completed because you would merely be sent back to the point before you completed the game.

Care to argue the point or have I disproved you well enough?

Honestly, can't remember it very well and I cannot find my old cheat/hint file on this machine... and right now my livingroom looks like a flash flood ran through it... oh wait, it did! *sigh*

Your evidence is inconclusive. Read back at what I said, time constraints caused it to halt, who's to say that, given the programmers and writers had proper time, we could have had a completely different outcome in FFVII.

Care to argue the point or will you actually read this time?

Then I have to chuckle at this one, since you give me an unfounded statement as fact and then can't prove it yourself, then argue as if it's true.

I think the simple matter of fact that Square-Enix/Soft have never given a public statement of any sort ever claiming that they ever removed a Aeris revival quest through time constraints is fact enough that there never was a revival quest, and I would be rather interested if you could find a statement from a Square-Enix and prove it was genuinly theirs in regards to this. But seeing as there isn't any such statement as far as I'm aware it would mean that this 'oh waitz there wuz meant to be a revival qwest' rumour is merely that, a rumour since it can't be backed up by fact.

On a secondary note, they cut out the coding for her revival because they didn't have enough time but they had enough time to dramatically alter the story-line from the moment she dies to the point the game ends to make it imperitive that she did die? They had enough time to code scenes relating to her death but again they didn't have enough time just to put in a revival quest? Seems to me like they had enough time, there just wasn't a quest in the first place.

Of course, if you want to be a wise-a** about being able to read your post then let me show you why I replied as I did. The first bolded statement is answered to by my second paragraph in my last post, and the second bolded statement is answered by the first. The way it was 'supposed' to happen was that Aeris dies and remains dead in order to save everyone on the planet. Maybe you should learn to read your own posts so you can figure out what parts people are arguing against.

I think that's pretty conclusive, and if for some God-forsaken reason you believe that Ben Lansing crap to be true then before you try and use it as evidence of there being a revival quest, read this:

http://www.ff7citadel.com/efiction/viewstory.php?sid=1

Then read this

http://www.ff7citadel.com/efiction/viewstory.php?sid=2

Care to argue a point you can't back up because it's nothing but a rumour or do you want to drop the point? I can prove what I'm saying because it is merely a reflection of Square-Enix having never explicitly stating that there ever was such a quest.

Rumours are rumours, the fact you're trying to defend one when it has nothing to back it up apart from the tears & wishes of fan-boys/girls is rediculous on too many levels.

Wow, I'll have to try that. I'm ashamed, but I could never get back into Midgar... maybe I was doing something wrong.
But I'll have to try it again.

Ah, the Aeris haters, so many of them. I understand why so many people dislike her, and why others love her... so I'm on the line. love nor hate.
I can't hate her!
But I agree, people should just get over the fact that SHE'S DEAD, AND IT WAS MEANT TO BE THAT WAY!! Sure, it's sad, but it had it's purposes.
And I don't think it's a glitch that you see her, it sounds like a little easter egg. *sniff* how nice...

yunachi
I love Aerith too, she's always has been my favorite ever since I was about four years old(I'm twelve years old..so yeah). And always will be my favorite..well,sitting beside Yuna of course.Anyway, even though she's my favorite,I just have to accept facts that she's dead, and there is no outstanding force that can bring her back to life and marry Cloud(no matter how much crying ).She will always be my favorite,up to now and forever, but there won't be no way she can cheat death, everybody has to die sometime in their life.

And Aerith never completely ruined the game, she was what kept the whole thing one of the most dramatic and historical events that ever happened in the history of Final Fantasy....and yes, made Cloud even more 'emo' for those that believe he is.

I've also heard that Cloud's date determined how close you could get to the ghost. If you went with Aeris, you could get close to her before she disappeared. If you went with Tifa, you could get halfway across the room before she vanishes. And if you went with Barret, she'd disappear almost immediately after a few steps. I've only tested this after going on the date with Tifa, so I have to test this out with the other two.

I thought you could also date Yuffie..wonder what happens when you try to get close to Aerith...

Yeah, you can (I just forgot to add her with the Barret statement, oops xd ). I've also heard a claim of someone getting a date with Vincent, although I have no idea how he got that to happen.

I don't think a Vincent date is possible seeing as no-one has found one in the decade or so the game has been out but it'd be pretty amusing.

I think the only possible candidates are Aeris, Tifa, Yuffie and Barret.

I think the dead Aeris is a nice touch. It was one of the first video games where a character "died" and didnt come back. There is no way to bring her back due to the story.
