I see your point.

And because of that, I will now make a review thread for less popular games in hopes that more exposure will increase budding female gamers' interest in said industry.

@Celes: I know I would encounter chauvinism but I didn't think to That extent! eek As I am a Newb game developer, I expected to encounter mostly male gamers with stereotypical ideas of a female gamer, but...that's just...Wow. Depressing...sort of makes me not want to work in the industry... emo

Btw, I almost went to Ai as well. xd

I am currently the only female in my music production class. The only person who makes it worth while is my professor, otherwise no one takes me seriously, so I know how gender lines go. It's not gone people! Just because us women earned the right to vote and work and not be in the background all the time does not mean it still doesn't exist. It's tough. And it really pisses me off when people just stride in, think they know everything, then start steriotyping. It is typical for a girl to gravitate toward a dream, so find me a male type that will fulfill the female dream, then you have every right to complain. Trust me, I'm married, and we both know that no one is absolutely perfect, therefore I still think, "Oh yeah, so-and-so is really hot." I am one of the few people I know if is heavy into Magic, and I have a thing for Ixidor, so what? I can still pummel you in Magic anyday. I am the only female I have EVER known to be so extensive into Warhammer. Have you seen my thread on tabletop wargaming? I love Kevin Smith movies, and even HE said at the beginning of Clerks II, "Thank you, guy, and like the three girls, for buying this DVD." Oh, the "Obscure gamers with obscure knowledge" still exists. Maybe you're just looking in the wrong place. They've all grown up and are in college or *gasp* the real world. Come down to Denver, we'll find you a group where you can get your fix.

xD I actually got accepted into AI Vancouver and I start in July or something. Game Art and Design program, b***h! ^^
Very pleased about that.
Anyway.

Dusty Star, I'd be happy to help you review games, although I dont usually get my hands on the newer games quite as quickly as other people seem to. The lack of money available for spending on things that arent art school seems to be the problem here.
I'd love to help, though. Gimme a PM if you're interested.

@DMSeraphim:
Sorry to hear that.
Fangirling is okay, I just think these younguns might be going a bit overboard, even if they are younguns. Trust me, Vincent Valentine is totally my bishie.
I like magic too. My favourite deck so far is my modified Kamigawa...its a green/white spirit. Completely tourny-illegal, but very awesome.
I wouldnt go to Denver if you paid me xD Thats why the internet exists, so I can chat with people in Denver without actually having to go there.
Also I'm not sure I appreciate your tone. Living in your so-called 'real world' doesnt mean that one cant still go on the internet.
I have a job, a boyfriend, a family, school, art school, and my hobbies, and what, you think I'm not living in the real world? Maybe you think I'm living in the matrix or something, I have no idea.

The field's probably bad for game programming, too... I might go into that field if I end up not digging software engineering...

I hear ya. 3nodding

Been thinking about maybe switching out as well since the making video games isn't always a pleasant job. :B

But I probably won't...Unless I end up abhorring it. gonk

Yeah, I hear the work hours in the vg industry are awful. That's why I originally decided not to go for it, but it's probably one of the only things I'd be good at.

Oooohhh. o:

You live in Vancouver...My friend lives there. smile

That problem isn't uncommon. I don't have a lot of money either...so the thread might be slow-going... sweatdrop

But sure, it would be great to have some help, and we can even balance each other out if we happen to have played the same game [in terms of opinions and such]. 3nodding

Even though I have just responded to you, I'll give you a PM anyway... xd

The thread is already made too, just so you know. whee

I understand where you are coming from. I enjoy games, but I don't classify myself as a gamer since I don't really have time for it, nor the money to put into games. In fact, the only system I own is a DS Lite because I begged all my friends to get me one for my birthday. Special, huh?

Anyway, I'm only here because I ENJOY games. They aren't my life. I don't fantasise about the characters. I don't think about the clothing. I like the story lines, just shooting things for revenge on my math instructor for giving us a shitty test, or just hanging with the guys. We'll see if I get kicked out for not being active with my lack of time to be on the internet as well.

what I've noticed (not just in this guild but in ALL guilds on Gaia) is that because this is an anime based site, in all the gaming guilds I've ever been in, the only threads are on anime games and rpgs. No one hardly ever talks about shoot em ups, fighting games,a ction adventure games (which are my favourite) it's always pokemon, final fantasy, zelda or some other game like that...and I don't like anime and rpg so I always end up quitting the guilds, because it's a "gaming guild" and is supposed to be about all games yet all anyone can talk about is bloody rpgs and anime! sweatdrop

either that or stereotypical "girly" games..like dogs and kingdom hearts etc...get some masculinity Gaia! sweatdrop

Lady Zelda Dragoness
I hat epeople like you.You steriotype people like crazy!

Sure, I'vew played Kingdom Hearts and stuff, but I've also played games that would suprise people: Fable, Drakengard, Jak X, and God of War.

Just because of a ban, you think that's a good exuse to rant and steriotype. Well, you know what? Screw you. Screw you. I hope you burn in Hell. talk2hand

I gotta agree with lLady. I mean thatr's just being an idiot! What;s your problem?! Besides if you're gonna be ina guild, stick to it! a*****e...hope you burn in hell hypocrite!

before I post, I want to appolagise to anyone I may offend. If you get ticked off easily I would suggest not reading this or reading it with a friendly argument in mind. Once again, sorry to all I may offend.

I have to say, you calling her a hypocrite and a*****e is one way of proving what she is talking about. After all, the first and most common reaction to a social attack like that is an attack right back at them. So by lashing out you are proving yourself to be one of those gamers who clings to games with more fanbase than actual storyline or amazing gameplay that she speeks of.

I would also want to know how she is being a hypocrite? All she is asking for is a guild with more sustanance than what appears on the surface.
I know exactly what she is talking about. Personaly I am tired of coming into this guild day after day and seeing nothing more than kingdom hearts and final fantacy plastered all over the place. All she wants is more game reviews on a wider range then what she can go and find in the local edition of game magaziens.

So please... tell me how she is being hypocritical or a*****e-ish or any of your other claims. I would honestly love to see you back them up with anything other than a flame or raw anger, please... give me more information rather than "You a** hole, stop trashing a guild you joined!"

sad That hurt.
I know there are people out there like that, but...that really stung. It feels like you're stereotyping us all as hypocrites. I mean, I'm a girl gamer! I just don't focus on the good-looking heroes- heck, I have more fun playing a game as a heroine. I come here to chat about game plots, share my thoughts with fans of the same games I love, give some help to those who are stuck, and pick up some funny stories or enter debates.
