His life was fresh... Sekizen didn't know what to think of things. He hoped that on this day, he would run into his father. He believed his father to be in the Pridelands, and every day he was out and about he hoped he would meet him. Little did Sekizen know his father wasn't about.
It was nice to get away from his siblings. They always wanted to play... He really preferred quiet time to himself. He found himself a particularly nice rock to sit on, and did just that, trying to figure out what he thought of the world.

Vinaya was a quiet little thing. She wasn't adventerous or outgoing like some of her siblings. In fact, she was rather on the sensative side. She had a strange fear of failure, though she didn't fail anymore then the average cub did. But whenever she made a mistake she was terrified that was all anyone would think of her-her miscomming. So while sweet and gentle she was shy in meeting others. She was more relaxed around her siblings, but even with them there were times when she wanted to be alone so she wouldn't have to worry. This was one of those times.
She had wandered away from her family-not far, mind since she knew she was little and it wasn't very smart to do so-and went to find something peaceful to do. Of course...she didn't plan on running into anyone. And she certainly didn't pay enough attention to spot the cub perched on a rock above her eye-level.

Sekizen's eye caught sight of a little purple spot moving towards him. The closer it got, the more clear it became. It was a little lioness cub. Mostly purple, except that her front paws looked like they had been dipped evenly in ink. He looked down at his black paw, which looked like it had been shoved into the ink then rapidly pulled out... So sloppy of a mark. All other cubs had neater marks... Why was his family so different? He sighed, then lept lightly down off the rock as the cub got closer, seeing as it would be the proper thing to do; introduce himself.
"Hello," Sekizen said simply, quietly. He hoped he hadn't startled the cub by jumping off the rock. "My name's Sekizen, what's yours?" He asked, tilting his head a bit.

Vinaya jumped, startled by the sudden appearance of another. Oh! Her nerves tensed and she felt her ears turn back slightly, only managing to keep eye contact out of politeness. Good manners were always important! "U-um...h-hello..." she squeaked shlyly. She felt incredibly stupid for stumbling over her own words, so she quickly did her best to smooth them out. She didn't want him to think her stupid, because that wasn't good! "I'm Vinaya..."

Sekizen was utterly relieved that this lioness wasn't a hyperactive cub. He'd come out here to escape from those. He somehow felt quickly that he could be able to converse with this cub for a long time, she seemed like him, but slightly more timid, and not as different as he.
"Nice to meet you Vinaya. I'm sorry if I startled you." He said, also breaking eye contact for a moment to investigate a bug crawling across his foot. He gently extended a claw at it and prodded it on, then set it on a blade of grass where he thought it wouldn't get squished.

"No...it's fine, really..." Aya reassured him timidly, letting her eyes follow the bug as well, since it was a nice excuse to loose some of the tension. He seemed really nice and she was glad. That didn't help her nerves so much, but it was start. There really wasn't much he could do to assist her. Most of her bashful nature was self imposed, so she'd have to overcome it on her own. "Um..what are you...doing out here...?" she asked hesitantly.

Sekizen's attention returned to the purple female when he was addressed. "Getting some peace. My siblings are always begging for playtime... I get tired of it pretty quick," Sekizen said. Everytime he brought this up, or it was brought up to him, he felt pangs of pain. A reminder of how different he was than most other cubs. Many had told him he acted old for his age, and that a cub should be frollicking about, or playing tag. He didn't like that life much, and preferred one of careful consideration. He was different. He didn't let his eyes show his feelings though, he could wear any mask he wanted to, and hide anything he wanted. It was a nice gift to have, other than how different it made him.
His face looked exactly the same as it had when he placed the bug out of danger's way. "How about yourself?" He asked, quietly as ever. "Why are you out here?" He hoped that Vinaya wasn't afraid of him or anything.

His composed exterior made her feel stupid. She couldn't comprehend how he held it all in, especially at her young age. It was intimidating...like talking to a grown up. So she felt ever more shy then before and far more careful of what she said. But by the way her posture slumped slightly she didn't believe she'd really say anything right compared to him. "Um...I'm just...trying to get some quite time..." Oh...that was basically what he had said, wasn't it? Oopps.

Sekizen smiled warmly. He doubted Vinaya had an idea how relieved Sekizen was that she wasn't begging for play. "I know how you feel," Sekizen said to her. He was curious, though, about one thing about her. He had to know how much like him she was. "What do you usually do to keep yourself busy?" Sekizen asked, twitching his tail to the other side of his body.

"Umm..." She flushed with embaressment, thinking her answer was going to be rather stupid. Though logically she knew she shouldn't think such things or get so nervous over nothing. But her body always seemed to run away with her mind, leaving her doing exactly what she wished she didn't. "I-I...like to...think about...things..." she murmured with honest uncertainty.

"Me too!" Sekizen said, almost too excited. However, this was a circumstance to be excited about. Perhaps he wasn't as different as he had thought... Maybe all of those dreams he had every night were for a different reason... He pondered the possiblilities of being not-different in one sense... But there were still other ways he was different. He calmed himself down again.
"I think about nature a lot... Big things. The sky, the stars..." he said, his voice trailing off.

Vinaya felt a shiver of relief run through her body. Ohhh~! He didn't think she was strange then! She smiled a little, but her shyness held, though it was far more relaxed-more like a polite reserve. She let him talk, listening instead. She had always been more of a listener, less of a chatter. But that didn't mean, when she was interested, she wouldn't throw in her two-cents worth. "M-me too...though I think about people...and I like to question things...though mommy and daddy don't always know the answer."

"My mom won't even answer some questions, and I haven't ever met my dad," Sekizen told her. "I'm sure he'd know the answers, if I could ever find him." He had no idea what his father even looked like, so he may have met his father and never even known it. He, once again, let his mask cover up his sadness at never having met his father. He didn't even change his gaze from the blade of grass he had been watching since he had started talking to her.
