They're playing a concert together at the Royal in August. So I got tickets- me and my dad and a bassist friend of mine are going. Expensive, but it's gonna be worth it. Killer lineup, to say the least.

Quick overview:

Stanley Clarke: one of the finest jazz bassists ever. Played with Chick Corea, among other people. I would say second only to Jaco, but that's me.

Bela Fleck: well, the cover to UFO TOFU says: "This music was performed live in the studio. If you hear keyboards and harp simultaneously, chances are very good the Howard played them at the same time." Among other things, they have pennywhistles, ocarinas, six strings bass, 5 string fretless bass, and banjos.

Jean Luc-Ponty
: Electric violinist. Brought the instrument to a whole new level. He's amazing.

Do you know if their sax player will be there, um. Jeff Coffin, I think?

Yeah there's a BB King concert in that series this summer. Always great musicians playing at that venue too bad i missed the Tower of Power concert a few years ago.

Stanley Clarke & Jean Luc Ponty, Live At Montreaux was recently released back in May. Would that have some of the same stuff you're about to see on it?

I'm thinking probably that they would do some of that stuff. But no guarantees.
