*All the data is from CNN (hey, better then Fox..)

P.S.- Ok, I don't feel like updating it anymore, so as a rule of thumb, add 20-50 to the number if it isn't 100% counted, and that's pretty much how many you got. All the states had a rounded 0-1% of total votes for Badnarik. If someone finds a mistake or a conflict, by all means, I welcome corrections.

P.P.S.- I respectfully congratuate Bush for his hard work campaigning, and I hope he'll listen to the voice of his opponents as well as his supporters for the duration of his time in office.

P.P.P.S.- Badnarik wasn't on the ballot in Nazihoma....*COUGH* I mean... Oklahoma and New Hampshire. =)

P.P.P.P.S.- LP.org releases a figure of 376,347 votes. In 2000, Browne scored 376,123 (about 200 less than this year). As the last votes trickle in, it'll most likely increase a teency bit more. To put that in perspective...

George Bush- 59,059,408
John Kerry- 55,467,726
Ralph Nader- 394,849
Michael Badnarik- 376,347
Michael Peroutka- 129,530
David Cobb- 105,168

*note* nearly all figures above are sure to change slightly within the next day or two as the last votes get counted.

*nod* unless you count Nader for kinda carrying the unofficial Green endorsement. goes to show ya, elections aren't much different then your high school student council elections. name recognition is everything (nearly).

Exactly, but Badnarik was really close to Nader in votes. Shows how much the party is growing. Badnarik also got around 3 times as many votes as Mr.Cobb, which is pretty cool.

That's pretty cool that they did that well. 85% of the people in this room voted libertarian. if 100% of libertarians voted that way (and people in this room are more inclined to vote libertarian, so my figures are off) we would have gotten at least 442,761.
What's even better, is most libertarians don't even know they're libertarians!
Once they understand that they aren't stuck with republicans and democrats, we'll get 4 million, then 40 smile

Yeah Badnarik said in an interview that he one time walked into a full elevator, and got everyone in the elevator convinced to vote for him. Some in the elevator said they would vote for him basically because he wasn't Bush or Kerry.

that explains why the media and the other parties are trying to limit his visibility.

The two things that will increase Libertarian votes:
1. If all libertarians vote libertarian.
2. If all libertarians vote.

Currently, I do believe a large portion, perhaps not a majority, of libertarians don't vote, be it because of viewing it as hopeless, or being morally against using a corrupt system.
To the first, I say get up and vote anyway, take that hour out of your day and make your vote count.
To the second ones, I say get up and do something! If they aren't going to vote, well the only other real way of changing the system is through force... If all the libertarians who didn't vote on principle started a revolution or something, I wouldn't mind, but I do mind those who won't vote, and then won't even try to do something else in the name of freedom. It doesn't have to be big, doesn't have to be violent, but you gotta do something. It's our country, and you can't change s**t by doing absolutely nothing.

It's also good to educate everyone what a libertarian is. Most people don't even know a third option for them exists.

"What did you say you believe in? I think I'm a libertarian!"
You'd be amazed how much you here this while spreading the word

I hate to burst y'all's bubble, but Badnarik did horribly for the amount of money the party spent. The party essentially bankrupted itself and Badnarik was unable to show any significant improvement for the party. Not only that, but Badnarik got beat by a man who campaigned without a party and was not even ON the ballot in many places. The party wasted our time and our money on this, when there were smaller elections that could have been won by libertarian candidates.

We were fourth. We were not #1 of third parties, we were second. IU would not bring this up again except that the pary is also publishing the misleading "we won the third party race!" line in the newsletters and online. For a party based on principle, they sure are playing the misinformation game exceedingly well.

Well, you get to vote next time. wink In the meantime, I suggest that you vote in your local elections when they come up! Only around 20% of the people participate in those, so you can definitely make a difference.
