My audition is in the beginning of May, but I wanna start finding a song and practicing now. I need a song, but I dont know what I should sing. They sugest that we sing something Pop, show tunes, or rockish(i think). They dont want us to be singing...i mean talking....rap. I'm not sure about clasical stuff because we are mainly a show choir but we do sing clasical in the beginning of the year.

I am a 1st saprano but I can sing many low notes as well.
Thanks for all of the suggestions. :]

hmm, I'm surprised they wouldn't want you to try at least auditions on classical music. A lot of good classical music can be a good display of voice, but I guess you could get that out of some pop and rock pieces too

they probably let us do classical but i am just saying i am not sure because i dont remember what it said on the paper last year that told us what kinds of songs we could sing.

I know my director prefers a more ballad-type song, to show off one's voice more. Find a song you already know well in your range and can find accompaniment for. I myself usualy sing country.

In my show choir auditions everyone sings the same song sweatdrop It's kind of unfair if it fits someone's range better, but I'm amazing so I get in no matter what! mrgreen

For a song I would probably pick something more "pop" than "classical" because there isn't really any classical music in show choir

yea, we have to pick one song and then we all have to sing one other song that is the same. I was thinking more pop because i dont know much classical music anyhow.

Sweet Jesus. We're not allowed to audition a capella at my school. In that case, pick something with a fairly simple melody that doesn't jump around too much, because some songs sound really bad without accompaniment, even if you're singing it correctly.

wow. why dont they let you audition a capella? They want us to sing a capella because it is harder to sing that way and it shows skill if you can.

Somehow I think it's because it's harder, but...I'm not the director.
