What is the use of Bloomers? What do they do for the outfit? Do they add poof like Petticoats?

I rarely use a petticoat, since both of my Meta bloomers add enough poof by themselves. It's all about how much poof you want; for me, bloomers are enough.
But the real function of bloomers is modesty. Lolita skirts are wide and it's really easy for someone to see your underwear when, for example, in stairs. So wear bloomers to avoid that.

i wear bloomers to work if i go in lolita. 1/4th of my job is picking up clothes off the floor and they help in the modesty deparpment. i can bend w/o fear.
i have a question too, and i dont want to make another thread for just one. lets make this a question thread.
ok my turn. i like tattos. i have 2. you cant see either when im in normal dress or loli. i was thinking about getting a 3rd, in a place you can see it. now if i were to get a small shiloutte of a black cat on my anke or foot would that look horrable in lolita for those time i ditch my socks, or when i wear sheer whites and you can see threw? ive seen the loli's with big arm tattos and they were bad! but this wont be nearley as bad or as big. its going to be small and cute. a no-go or a so-so?

I say most people don't look at your ankles, if they did then if you wear a little thicker of socks then they won't see it anyways.

You should never go completely without socks. Ever. (For one, its hard to pull lolita off that way, two EW in the sweaty shoes.) I think a little kitty silhouette peeking through sheer stockings would be cute. People might even mistake it for a print on the stocking and ask about it. Edit: Sorry for late post.

They add slight poof, not enough to go without a petti. They protect you from the scratchiest of the petticoat, look realy cute, and protect your modestly when you ean over or on a windy day. You can also sleep in them, for Loli pajamas.

Bloomers are supposed to keep you from feeling itchiness from the petticoat, and to keep your legs from rubbing against each other if you have big thighs.
I don't find bloomers a good alternative for bloomers, though.
