So there he was. Cully was bored and damn, he had standing there since the dawn of time. Well, it seemed that way, anyway. The redhead was leaning on the front counter of 'Ye Olde Wande Shoppe' as he liked to call it, elbows on and a comic book between his arms. While he would rather it be a science text, this was the only thing he could think of to read.
When someone walked into the shop, his head shot up, slightly flustered, and a grin crept over the round features. "Welcome to the Wand Shop!"
Did he ask them to touch the book now? Later? Whatever. It would happen when it happened. It would come with time.

Christine blinked, then screwed up her nose and gave him an odd look, "The Wand shop?" There was a long silence, then she gasped, "Oh, wow! Is this like in Harry Potter?" she looked around, grinning. Bill followed her in hurriedly, "Christine, what are you doin'??" he said in his rather thick Australian accent, taking her hand. "This is a wand shop, Pops, can we have a look? Pleeeeease?" William sighed, "Fine...but don't touch anything!" he said, watching as she darted off to the side, before looking at Cully, "There's nothing breakable here, right?"

"Well." Cully paused, blinking as the two made their way in. "Actually, the wands here are made to last. I wouldn't worry about it. But could you all do me a favor?"
The gray eyes moved to the older man and CUlly gave the book before him a fond pat, a grin twisting on his lips. "My manager requested each customer touch the book. So could you do me a favor and help me not get fired?" The book was patted again.
"Promise it won't bite."

William stared, a look of utmost confusion on his face. Touch...the book? He cocked an eyebrow and moved over, eyeing the book, then reaching out and touching it. Christine was too busy being disgruntled that this shop looked nothing like Ollivanders.

Good thing this wasn't Ollivanders then. Cully would've been snarky, had the other said it outloud, but he didn't. Lucky William. He sat back and let the other reach over, touch the book.
The moment that William touched the book, an invisible wind picked up in the shop, blowing the cover open, pages rustling and blowing about until it landed on a well worn page. On the page was a sketch of a waterlogged wand, with barnacles here and there on it's body. Below it read:
"Kracken. Wand ID 00043. A Soul has been trapped within the confines of the wand. Congratulations, you have become the next guardian to take on the task of raising it from infancy to greatness. We, Ianna and I, have the upmost faith in you to complete your task dutifully. Best of luck,
Matilda."
Cully smiled brightly at that, peering down at paper. "Kraken? That's an interesting little.....creature. So. You have a new kid. Would you like the wand gift-wrapped?"

This earnt him a look that clearly said William thought him quite insane. But he looked from him to the book, frowning and cocking an eyebrow. Kraken? He'd heard of it, obviously, but... "What the heck are you talkin' about, mate?" he asked, eyebrows almost reaching his hairline as he looked back up at Cully. "'Raising it from infancy to greatness?' What's that all about? Raising what...a kraken?" This was ridiculous.

"It means," Cully drawled out, pulling that specific wand out from its hiding place, "That you are now a proud father of a kraken. Your mam never told you story of krakens? Mine did. Crab krakens, squid krakens, Poseidon, silkies... Your mam didn't tell you any of this?"
That earned William a look of disbelief and his head shook. "Well, whether she did or not, I'm sure there's plenty of books avaliable at teh local bookstore. And raising it from intfancy means... It's going to be a baby, lad. A child. Yours. Got it?"

"It's a stick..." William was not at all accustomed to such odd things. He was still getting used to this Gaia place, and now this...It was a stick, and looked like neither a baby, nor a kraken. He eyed it disbelievingly.
"Right...you're off your rocker, bud." He said, sighing, "I didn't come here to buy anything anyway."

"Yep. It's a stick that you have to take care of and will one day become a cute little bundle of destructivity." His voice was weirdly chipper, lips peeled into an amused grin at the others face. It was fun, to watch people react like that.
"It's a good thing you don't buy it then. It's yours. Free. And you have to take care of it, or else the soul in there will die. Do you really want to kill some innocent thing that only wanted another chance to live?"

"You...want me to take a stick home, because you believe there is, some how, a baby inside, that will magically pop out? Well, at least you won't be charging me for it." This was ridiculous. But hey, it was easier to just agree and go along with it.
