I've beaten the entire game, but I can seem to get enough stuff to beat Sephiroth with. A friend of mine told me it was because I needed the Ultima Keyblade, I finally found the recipe, but man is it long, any ideas?

lol, you don't need that Keyblade to beat him. I beat him with a weaker keyblade than that. :S What level are you on? It mostly depends on your skills and your level..

I haven't played in a while but I beat the entire game BEFORE I went to beat Sephiroth. So I know that my level is pretty good. but I have tried so many times to beat him and he always clobbers me.

You dont need the ultima keyblade. I beat him before I even found the recipe. My advice is to level up to 99 using pride mountan and use ablities that raise your combos and add arial finishers. The guard skill is also a must. Most of his attacks can be predicted by watching his movements as well.

Heres what to do:
Before you start get alot of elixirs and high potions and put them in your quick menu.

when you first fight him there is a reaction command to do so be quick. At the beginning of the fight he doesn't move around alot so you can really attack him there.

After a while he will cast "heartless sin angel" (Removes all mp and leaves only 1 hp) You can stop him by hitting him BEFORE it is actually cast. If you don't get to him in time, get as far away as possible. After he casts it, he will use the attack he did at the beginning of the fight so get ready to use the reaction command. Don't use the elixir or high potion until AFTER he attacks you. (he does cast this attack more than once so don't get caught off guard and listen for him to say heartless sin angel)

Once his hp gets low, his attacks get really crazy and there is no special way to dodge them. Just be careful and make sure you cure often.

It doesn't matter which keyblade you have.

make sure beserk ability is NOT equipped

and I beat him at level 83 or 89 (i forget) but make sure you're comfortable with your level when you fight him.

Once you get the hang of how to fight him, it's really not that bad.

okay thanks that's a lot of help. I actually just got off that game and I almost had him. Then he blew me away at the last hp bar. Oh and I found out that my level is 60. I'll keep working on it.

Oh, one last comment!

One of the longest Keyblades in the game is that one from Halloween Town. (I forget what it's called.... Festive Pumpkin or something...)

my issue was with it was I would get rid of almost all of his HP and only have to do 1 combo, but my hp would be so low that if i didn't cure, I would die so that used up my mp and I couldn't complete a combo to beat him then I would die.
