Many Pro Halo 2 players have had there accounts hacked along with a bunch of other random people. And Microsoft has done nothing about it. When they call up to complain Microsoft says that there is no way for there account to be hacked unless they gave it out. The people who where hacked think it was through the phone, the hackers call up 1-800-4my-Xbox and then trick the people into giving out there info, they also usually buy thousands of MS points and charge them bills around 1,000 dollars or more.

Your Thoughts?

hm, im sure they can track IP addresses. so im sure if enough of a stir arises they will look into it...see if the IP address when the bill was racked up is the same as the typical gaming one.

IP addresses can change. And many pros have been hacked upward of 8 times.

hm...im not sure what else MS can do to stop this...confirmation email for buying stuff?

not sure what all MS has to go on...sort out those who are untruthful and those who are seriously hacked...

sucks tho

Most people have dynamic IP addresses now-a-days. So, to track IP addresses would be utterly useless. Considering that it is Microsoft, they should have had better defenses in place.

For those that gave away their info foolishly: Tough s**t. I understand what you're going through, but you should of asked any number of questions a true Microsoft official would know the answer to. They should have also known that Microsoft would never ask for their password.

You don't understand at all. People aren't giving there info to fake Microsoft employees. The hackers call up MS XBOX line and then trick the not so intelligent employees that run the telephone service into giving out the info so that the hackers can account recover the account to there 360 change the e-mail and keep the account with the original credit card so they can charge all the stuff they want to the credit card. I've called up MS and canceled one of my account by just giving out my address name and phone number. I'm sure the hackers can say they moved and don't remember there old address or something of that sort and get all the info they need to steal an account. I think it's a pretty serious problem.

If this is indeed what is going on, then people need to all goto Microsoft at once. They then need to enlighten them on the incompetence of the company's employees. They need to also point out that their customer service representatives were being a bit too nice by divulging the information without proof. Such as the Xbox 360's registration code, serial number or model number.

Regardless if the above happens, Microsoft probably isn't going to be able to return all of the accounts. They will most likely just beef up their customer service protocols.

I don't think most of them care about there accounts they care about there bill.

They'll have to provide solid proof that there accounts were stolen. Now, that in itself is no easy feat. No matter, it will be a long time before any of them can get such a bill canceled. You must also keep in mind that Microsoft is being shafted too. For, if the original account holders don't pay, then where will they get the money for their services?

I just simply can't believe such a thing was ever allowed to happen in the first place.

If the people know all the information to their accounts and stuff wouldn't they be able to recover their gamertag or something? Anyways if they can't they should be able to do it over the phone give them all your information and they give you it back. But losing your rank isn't a huge deal. Play a lot and they'll get it back. The Microsoft points thing however is a much more serious issue.

like i said earlier...MS needs to add a few more safety proticals is seems. verification Email for buying MS points. not having the credit card number to where it can be accessed. only like a remove or add credit card button.
but then people will complain of the lock down...isnt there a password you have to use?
if not you should have to use a password to get your account on the box or something...

Once there in the account they change the e-mail anyways so that wouldn't really do much. But they definitely need to change their protocols or something like you said.
