do they have a shortage of children or something?
they should be ******** glad.
if that's the case, ship some of our surplus over the pond.

but i'm wondering if they're not just swiping young children because that's where the demand is.

this makes me feel ill. @_@

I would like to second the WTF on this. There are tons and tons of children in the world that need homes. Why not partner with foreign adoption agencies to meet their quotas? The idea of a quota is good in theory, but then so is communism. It doesn't work in the real world, because you implement the system, and then crap like this starts happening. Parents become afraid to discipline their children, because at the slightest mention of a child's unhappiness, said child could be taken away. It's one thing to take a child away if there is real abuse going on, but there's a difference between child abuse and sending your kid to bed early because they tried to jump out of a fifth floor window while playing super hero. Like Jazzberry said, they should be ecstatic that they have a shortage of children in their adoption system. A shortage of children means a waiting list of prospective parents, which then gives the adoption agency time to do a thorough background check on them to determine whether or not they're really fit to become parents. I agree that spending too much time in the foster care system is a bad thing, but so is being snatched from loving parents and being sent to a family that was not adequately researched because the people handling your case had to make their numbers match up.

Sorry about the long post. This just pisses me off.

They were told to increase the number of children that were getting adopted, so now they're stealing kids age 1-4 so they can pad their numbers because those are the ones that move the fastest.

That is, if this is true. We weren't exactly given a source on account of the MP citing Contempt of Court laws against the publication of said sources. But the fact that about the same number of children who were adopted out and the jump in the number of children removed from their parent's care are identical does make me waggle my eyebrows in contempt and suspicion.

why the hell does something like this even have to meet a quota? it's just like cops having arrest quotas so they have to arrest someone doing basically nothing simply to meet their quota. WHAT THE ******** IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?

This is disgusting. Period.

Quote:
If birth parents believe they have had their child taken into care unfairly, they should lodge a formal complaint with their local authority.

Which is all very well & good, but if the kids have been adopted unfairly then there's nothing that can be done.
