I'm... sort of a cosplay newbie; this is my first outfit to be made completely on my own. Of course, since I'm stupid, I decide to pick a detailed outfit and refuse to take help from anyone I know, like my mom or my grandmother. xd ;; *has pride issues*

Anyway, I was wondering, how would one make a checker-patterned skirt? Especially if it curves like Sakubo's. I figure for the poof-effect, I could try stuffing the portion of the skirt between the actual part and the lining. But, I'm not entirely sure. sweatdrop Advice on that would be helpful, too.

For the "poof" effect, I would suggest wire mesh (I'll get a picture of an example for you as soon as I get the chance - probably tomorrow). As for the pattern design...I don't think I'd be able to help you on that one without misguiding you. Sorry. xp

Nah, I appreciate the help! The wire mesh idea sounds good (I've had a friend suggest that to me, too.).

Mmm, I should try that. xd Though I think the Wal-Mart people hate me because I spent 20 minutes trying to find just the right stuff once.

cut out the shapes you want and sew them on the skirt

Elastic at the top would help with the effect.
I would get a small hoop skirt and Fit it to yourself so it could get the sphere shape. Then make it poofy with tool.
The diamond pattern could just be peices of fabric sewn together, I've done a similar pattern, It's the easiest thing I could think of. You could also paint the pattern. But it looks less lovely.
That's all I could think of >.< Sorry!
