After all that running the little Ascended couldn't go any further. She crashed next to a bush and lay there panting as Rue got off her and tried to make sure she was ok. ((kinda stuck on this one >>))

After some time, the two made their way over towards Vastina and Rue, having caught their breaths for the most part by now. They heard the distance rumble of things going on in the village they had just warned and fled. Blade watched in the general direction the village was, just to make sure there weren't any dragons headed their way now.

"That could have been worse..." he mumbled to himself before sitting onto the ground for now and thinking of what to do next, "Any ideas on where to go from here?"

Astalder moved closer to the Ascended dragon, checking up on her to make sure she was alright.

"Maybe we should return to Genyiel and let Shadine know what happened. We might be able to find out if anything else went on too..." he suggested before looking around to try and figure out where Genyiel was exactly and how far away it was from their current location.

As Zanthe worriedly continued through the forest in search of her sister, she called out Seren's name several times.

Laird wandered aimlessly amid the trees, boredom gnawing at his mind. He had grown tired of trying to bully his slave, who seemed to have grown almost entirely accepting of Laird's mistreatment of him. Suddenly, he heard a voice that sounded like a very young, female dragonet. Remembering the group of winged dragons he had seen in the village, Laird felt a desire in him to have at least some of the power that the leader had had, a dragon who would share his view of humans and who would perhaps even serve him, if she agreed enough. He could tell she was alone. Turning in the direction of her cries, he slowly walked around some bushes, to a place he was likely to intercept her, and watched as she came straight toward him.

Zanthe froze in shock at the sight of the enormous, badly-scarred dragon who had just emerged from some bushes in front of her. "W-what happened to you?" she asked shakily, wondering how any dragon could have been hurt that badly.

"What happened," Laird replied quietly, choosing his words carefully so as to draw the young one into his web, "was the irrational cruelty of humans. We only seek what is ours, what was stolen from us by the humans long ago, yet they hate us for taking it back."

Zanthe's eyes widened. She suddenly noticed that there was a young man on Laird's back. "But, why do you have a human with you?" she said, puzzled.

"It is only through this human that I was able to gain the ability to fly," Laird explained in a patient tone, though inside he was anxious to win over the dragonet. "Anyway, though, my name is Laird. I heard you calling out; are you lost?"

"Yes, I am," Zanthe replied. "My sister and I were out hunting together, but we got separated, and I've been looking for her for a long time now. And I'm Zanthe."

Laird thought for a minute; it sounded to him as if this dragonet and her sister might not be living with their parents, perhaps an older sister. Such a young dragonet was still impressionable, and if he could keep her isolated, with only himself and Sidney to grow up with, she might one day become his first follower. He gave Sidney a mental command to speak convincingly to the dragonet to help weave the beginning of a web of lies, aiding the reality by slightly manipulating his slave's emotions to match his words.

Obeying his master's command with no hesitation, Sidney knitted his brow with a look of worry bolstered by Laird's assistance. "What does your sister look like?" he asked.

"She's the same age as me and looks the same as I do, except that she is a pale gold color, rather than brown. Why?" Concern showed plainly in Zanthe's tone.

"I'm truly sorry, but your sister...is no longer alive," Sidney continued, sadness now taking over his voice as a tear flowed from his eye.

Zanthe was horrified. "How? How could she be? She's my sister, she could take care of herself as well as I do...You must be lying! You must be!" Blinded by grief, the young dragon charged at the man before her.

Laird stepped between the two. "I'm afraid it's true, Zanthe," he said. "Several days ago, Sidney and I were traveling, when below us, we saw dragon-hunters attacking your sister. We tried to stop them, but they fought us off, and by the time we broke through them....she was gone." Laird stomped the ground, and snarled, cursing aloud against humans and their cruelty.

Zanthe shivered, the grief that overwhelmed her coupling with concerns about herself. "I....I have nowhere to go," she said. "My sister and I only had each other...I should never have separated from her, we should have stuck together! This is my fault!"

"No," Laird interrupted. "None of this is your fault; the fault lies only with your sister's murderers, the humans." The elder dragon sought to plant and nourish the seed of hate in the dragonet's soul. "I am a wanderer, with no permanent home, but you're welcome to travel with me, if you wish. I can protect you, as well. I gained these scars by defending young dragons such as yourself from ruthless dragon-killing humans."

"Thank you," Zanthe said, her eyes filling with admiration at such bravery.

"Come with me," Laird said. "We should head further north, away from here, in case they're still around."

Hearing the little dragon remark about loosing light Domitia looked up at the sky. "Even if you kept moving you wouldn't reach that one by night time. I think he moves around at times as well." She didn't sound positive about it but at least it was some information. The dark woman crossed her arms and then sighed. "De be right tho. Day be movin fast. Brigeet be tinking get sum food n set camp. Maybe litl ones be willing to help? Brigeet not be wantin bad tings to happen to dem."
Crevan nodded in agreement knowing she was probably making it their before night fall.

-Ashlynn was listening to Brigeet as they sounded nice and they didn't mind Crevan either so she put her arrow and bow away-
"Brigeet is your name right... well camp sounds like a good idea but food we are going to have to find roots, and herbs. We haven't seen or herd an animal for quite some time."

-Crevan thought about it and he decided that he can go with out food for a day.-
"Crevan..."

-Crevan said realizing that they haven't introduce themselves yet.-

-Ashlynn looked at Crevan as he spoke, then smiled.-
"Hes right, that is his name and I am Ashlynn."

-She didn't bring up the subject of where they were from. Only for the fact she is trying to ignore the fact that she left everything there and who know what was going on.-

Tarketh didn't say a word in reply, only kept the man pinned and carefully drew his tail around, the barb shining bright in the sun. He snapped it like a whip, the blade glancing across the man's cheek, and Tarketh smiled. As his fellow Fallen took to the air to battle the knights Tarketh simply let the man go and back away.

"You'll wake in about three hours," he said calmly, "I'll have you far from here by then..."

---------------------------

Lierce stood panting in the middle of the village. He doubted the villagers would ever return to it, not with all the violence that had ensued. There were houses crushed by the falling bodies of dragons and in all, five lay dead scattered about, their wings broken by the fall or in the battle. Two of those bodies wore the armor of his knights. The Fallen had been forced to retreat and would not doubt scatter to the east, temporarily routed from their plans to decimate the human lands. At least one of his knights had sworn he had seen Tarketh but it hadn't been verified. Lierce swore in his own tongue. He'd sent out some scouts to scour the surrounding lands, hoping to find the villagers and escort them to safety. They were, after all, knights. Quietly, the dragon walked his armored bulk over to where he heard some soft groaning. A human with wings that matched the dragon upon which he rested his head was taking his last breaths, for with the dragon dead he would not last long. Such was the way with the Fallen. Besides... not all the blood that sank into the dirt was dragon blood.

The human turned to look as a shadow covered him. His eyes were blank and he made no motion to resist as Lierce brought his clawed hand down and cut the veins in the neck, ensuring a fast death. Then he turned away, disquieted even by a mercy killing.

There was a rush of air as a dragon landed in front of him. One of the scouts.

"Sir," she said, "We've found something. Dragons. Younglings, it looks like. Unable to fly. I'm not sure why they're here but..."

Lierce cut her off.

"Bring them back here. I want half the troop to ensure the Fallen stay away from human lands. The rest are to return to Genyiel, with the younglings in tow. Shadine will want answers, I'm sure."

"And you?"

The dragon frowned, showing some fangs.

"I go to recover my Bound and pray that I do not find him dead."

-----------------------------------

"I'm not sure," Hammand replied in response to the ranger's question, "It depends on how things go. The Fallen are a formidable opponent but they're not very organized. If they're caught off-guard we can probably expect Lierce by morning. I think... we'd best get me outside of town before then as having a dragon - even a knight - land in the town square wouldn't be a good thing."

He looked around at the room awkwardly. It felt strange being in human lodgings again after so long. It felt even stranger to be cut off from Lierce. They didn't share thoughts as much as other Bound did but still - Lierce had always been there since he accepted the binding. For a moment he considered expressing his worry to Jay but no. She couldn't understand. So instead he fussed with his blankets, trying to see what kind of injuries he had sustained.

-the man's eyes closed as soon as the sunlight reflected in his eyes off the barb. And his body jerked as the barb struck him as a reaction to try to get away. When the dragon let him go he took a breath which allow blood flow to rush through his body more quickly than when he was slowing his breathing down. 'tail sleep toxin...' he thought as he made well note of that and then next thing sunk in his mind was to get up and get away. So The man got up with his sword as quick as he could and ran toward the nearest building not caring about what's going on now, to only fall into the building as the poison kicked in.-
".."
(And Thus the man sleeps.)

"Will you even be fit to ride in the morning?" Jay asked in a dubious tone. "Kintallus may be a gifted healer, but those tended injuries aren't even a half day old."

"But no, a dragon in the square would be a fool's move," Jay concurred as she continued on with the topic, resting her head back against the door and stifling a yawn. "It may be best for us to wait here at the inn until your dragon nears the city and then we make our move out. Waiting outside the village for an unknown period of time is almost as risky as flying the dragon straight in. Any waiting right outside this town has been... will be nothing but trouble."

The ranger's face soured at the last line, holding back some sort of inner contempt. Avalene was still out there, and there were only more questions than before since that meeting South of the village with her. Part of the ranger was urging her to tell the knight everything just to see what sense he might make of it, while the rest of her said that it was just the lack of sleep that was talking.

Closing her eyes as she shifted as best she could into a more comfortable position against the door, Jayara's questioning side lost as she started to drift in and out of consciousness.

"I can't stay up any longer," she muttered to the knight while trying not to fall asleep mid sentence. "It's been a long two days. Wake me in the morn or whenever we need to get out of this town if I'm not up by then."

Vastina was resting and listening to everyone else talking about going back to Genyiel. "Yes that seems a good idea but how do we get back? Which way do we go?" It was then that she saw the scout for the dragon knights above them. "Maybe we don't need to worry about find our way after all..."

-Crevan then started walking deeper in the trees.-
"Ashlynn you stay with Brigeet and I'll find some fair size sticks for the fire."

-Ashlynn was surprise how much he just sounded like her father, she just froze for a moment as thoughts swirled around her.'what am I doing? Can I really do this?'-

-It wasn't long Crevan came back with a mouth full of dried logs and he placed them down and started to dig a hole when he was finished he took a deep breath and exhaled causing every loose leaves and stick to clear as little flames did appeared from the corners of his mouth and he close it quickly.-

-Ashlynn smiled as Crevan was trying to help but she saw the little bits of flame in the dim sunlight-
"Crevan your a fire breather."
-her tone was a happy one.-

-Crevan just bowed his head in embarrassment.-
"yeah it's been bothering my stomach as of late Ashlynn, and I can't control it."
-Crevan was unsure about breathing fire but it was a new step in his life that he felt would help him later on.-

-Ashlynn then thought as she finally sat down.-
"want to try on the campfire pit you just set up so nicely."
-she had that mother like tone again that Crevan liked so much about her.-

"I guess I could give it a try."

"Great, Now if I remember the stories about Drac my Father's friend he was able to breathe ice and Drac always told Father that he had to be calm and decisive when useing it and it was like a quick snap of ones innerself, what ever that really meant."

-Ashlynn looked back at Domitia-
"Can you breathe fire Domitia?"

-Crevan huffed as he asked Domitia not liking that Ashlynn is asking help from them on advice none the less.-
