fictional characaters need to eat too. well if they want to be believeable they do. so here are a few entree dishes i came across the web. i'll do a seperate thread for sci-fi later. but for now i'll concentrate on d&d and lord of the rings. Ingredients 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 2 pounds of beef tenderloin, cut into 1-inch thick medallions Freshly ground pepper Salt 2 cups mixed wild mushrooms 1 cup sliced onions 1/2 cup Cognac 1 tablespoon garlic 1 cup veal demi-glace Parsley Red bell pepper, brunoise Your favorite spicy seasoning Directions In a hot saute pan, add the extra virgin olive oil. Season the beef with salt and pepper and add it to the oil. Brown the steak, about 2 minutes per side. Add the mushrooms and the onions, and season with salt and pepper. Remove the pan from the heat. Add the cognac. Very carefully flambe the cognac. Don't burn yourself. Allow the alcohol to burn off and then add the garlic and the demi-glace. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Garnish with parsley, red bell peppers and your favorite spicy seasoning. There will be about 4 servings. also bear in mind you can use crikets and or meal worms in place of beef. razz

i found some recipes for the cookies that can be found in the game Yoshi's Cookies... hmm... i think i'll post them in the appropriate forum later.
oh, and this recipe sounds quite interesting. maybe i'll take your suggestion and replace the meat. 4laugh

Sweet Bean, Meat and Potato Stew by Vianus
Entrees
Ingredients
1.) Three tomatoes 2.) Five potatoes 3.) Five grams of sweet beans 4.)Five pomegranate seeds (and any optional flavourings 5.)Any required meat (beef highly recommended.) Directions
1.)Add the meat juices to boiling water to create a sauce. 2.)Chop the tomatoes into small pieces and add to the sauce. 3.)Then chop the potatoes into wedges and add also. 4.)Add the sweat beans to the sauce and other ingredients. 5.)Chop the meat into chunks and add to the stew also. 6.)Add the pomegranate seeds also as well as any extra flavourings. 7.)Cook over a fire until boiling and the juices have mixed with the water.

Tas' Tot 'N Cheese Bake by Trampas Whiteman
Entrees
Ingredients:
2 teasoons butter 2 eggs 2 cups milk Salt and white pepper 2 cups grated yellow cheddar cheese 2 cups grated white cheddar cheese 1 cup ham, diced 2 pound bag tater tots, thawed Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 by 9 by 2-inch square baking dish with the butter.
2. In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together. Season the mixture with salt and pepper. Add 1 cup of the yellow cheddar cheese, 1 cup of the white cheddar cheese, the ham and the tater tots. Mix the mixture thorooughly.
3. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and sprinkle the top with the remaining cheese. Place in the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
Author's note: Tika got this recipe from the infamous Kender, Tasslehoff Burrfoot. She didn't believe at first that it would turn out well, but she was surprised at the results!
It is said that she raised all of her children on this recipe, and she uses it whenever Kender come to eat at the Inn of the Last Home.

Tas' Thieving Chicken by Pain
Entrees
Ingredients
8 boneless chicken breasts 2 cups full honey BBQ sauce 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon pepper 3 lemons side:
3 cups rice seasoning of choice Directions
Thaw chicken; place chicken breasts in two rows of four in rectangular pan. Cover chicken in honey BBQ sauce; spread salt and pepper evenly over chicken. Slice the lemons; place lemon slices over chicken evenly. Cook in oven at 450 degrees for 1:30 hrs. Check every fifteen min. or until done. You should know how to cook rice.

Appetizers
Ingredients
500 g dried grape(sultana) 500g dried fig 50g orange's peel 1 lemon (juice and peel) 1 table spoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon crushed anis 30g fresh yeast 40g butter 400g flour 500g grape of Corynthe 200g date 200g crushed nuts 1/8 l rhum 1 teaspoon ground bot clove 100 g sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon salt Directions
* Mix all fruits with the lemon juice and the two peels. Add the rhum and let stand one night. * Add the spices and sugar, and let stand again 2h at 4h * Mix the yeast with the milk and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, let rise * Mix the rised yeast with the flour. Add the egg, the salt and the smooted butter * Add the fruits and work the whole paste * Dress on a greased plate. Give it the form of an elongated bread * cook gently at 180 celsius 45 at 55 min
