Okay, I understand places like ASPCA, RSPCA and shelters have to put animals down when they are are critically ill or hurt, but I have some questions about the ASPCA.

RSPCA puts down animals when they're not adopted, but does the ASPCA?

I don't really understand that, why kill a animal just because it’s not wanted, yet. What if it had a chance in a future to be adopted? I would love to volunteer at RSPCA but I decided not too, just for the reason that putting down an animal for no reason isn't right.
I understand they need room and all but it has nothing wrong with it...

Just discuss what you think here...

It's not nice but in areas where people refuse to get their animals altered [like around here] it's really the only solution.

I worked in a no-kill shelter, and they're very expensive to run. When you keep animals until they're adopted, they take up space and budget that could be used for animals that will be adopted. Killing them, however, is not the answer. The answer is a foster program. People volunteer to keep the animal until space is freed--not adoption, just care. Plenty are willing to do so.

If the shelters get over crowed I think they should let foster parents come in and take them. We have lots of orgizations that would be happy to take all of the animals from the shelters. The only problem is the shelter. They want to make money off the pet. Yes the money goes to the place, but we have people like me who will take an odd looking cat and put them in a good home. Just because its missing a leg or an eye doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to die. I adopted my dog many years ago from a shelter and it was the oddest process. He was scheduled to be put down the next so we said we will take him. Then the long process bagain. He lived to be almost 16. He was shy of his birthday by a week. I say give the animals over to people who can really put them in homes.

every animal shelter has to put down animals if there not adopted cause they need more spaces for the new animals and the old animals that were in that shelter will get old and die to so they just think that it will be a good idea to just put the animal down unless if they want it suffer without playing with other animals and staying on a small cage for the rest of there lifes

(my opinion so sorry if it dousn't sit well with some *Bow*)

I don't agree with it but sometimes theres not to much of a choice if no one else can foster them and no rescue groups will take them in. im not Happy they put animals down but... sometimes its all they can do without jepordizing the whole shelter.

Alot of places don't have an immense amount of money to get more room for animals. and sometimes its better to euthinize -humanly- it otherwise soon the shelter may have Many smaller probably less kept cages with animals on top of one another. I've seen it happen to a shelter. some places just get to many become over run and it jeopardizes ALL the animals health and chance for one on one attention and if the shelter begins to get overcrowded people will adopt less from them because the animals don't look as good as they would so sadly sometimes its there only option.

And it will keep happening until people start taking responsibility for there animals. I just think its easy to forget how much money each life costs. and how much some people put into shelters. i doubt shelters Want to have to put them down

If they put them down without looking into the alternitives of foster, rescue groups or anything elce then i disagree but if they tried, i don't see how i can call it wrong.

The thing thats wrong in my eyes is the thoughtless breeding of puppymills and owners who dont fix there pets and let them breed reepetedly and then give them away taking homes from thouse animals who are being put down or spending life in a shelter.

Edit- granted some shelters are for money but what occupation isnt infiltrated by greed on one level or another. (you know what i mean by it XD i mean even -afew- police, judges, firemen, some hospitals even)
