...or more specifically, the favorites that I have out of the ones that I have played thus far. 3nodding I'd put this in the RPG subforum, but it seemed like no one saw it. razz

The Final Fantasy series...ah, man...memories... heart

Am I the only one in here that absolutely adored Final Fantasy VIII?

Some claim the story to be lacking in comparison to other Final Fantasy games. In my opinion, the story was just fine, for the most part, though there were a couple of plotholes and meaningless occurrences here and there (i.e, some characters showing up when they really had no business doing so, like the silliness of the Balamb scenes with Fujin and Raijin).

Some also disliked the junctioning system, either because they found it too complex, or because of the fact that you often had to draw magic. I thought that it was a well executed system, personally. smile

Finally, the characters...the only characters I really had a problem with in FFVIII were, ironically, Squall and Rinoa, as the same sort of love story between two characters following that archetype had been done before. They also seemed to more or less lack personality unless something drastic was happening to one or the other, and in Rinoa's case, once she came into the story, she wasn't as involved as most other heroines would have been.

My favorite characters were Zell, Selphie, Seifer and Irvine. 3nodding Fujin and Raijin were cool too, in my opinion...ya know?

The only thing that I truly hated about FFVIII was the lack of mini-games compared to the other FF games. I loved Triple Triad, but that's all that there was, really. neutral

...

FFIX was another one that I liked. As was stated, it was a nice change of pace from past FF games, and the characters were some of the most impressionable ever, in my opinion.

There was a nice abundance of sidequests and mini-games to keep you interested, and the battle system was nice, too. I especially liked the fact that it allowed a second player to join in, since it made for some interesting, and sometimes hilarious, battles. razz

...

FFX was a truly awesome game in the series. The story was well put together, and in a rare occurrence, there was at least one character in this one in particular that nearly anyone could identify with for one reason or another, rather than having most of them follow a typical stereotype (Squall/Cloud=emo, Barret/Zell=burly, vulgar and quick-tempered).

Blitzball was a fun distraction from it all--hell, I spent more time playing that then stat-raising my characters at times--and, while it wasn't heavy on the sidequests, the ones that it had were interesting enough, as well as challenging enough (Nemesis in the arena still gives me hell stressed ).

Finally, in terms of a villain, Seymour was one of the few that you had more than one reason to really hate by the time you hit the middle of the game, if not for what he did to your characters, and the chaos he caused, then for the fact that the ******** just wouldn't stay dead. stressed

...

FFX-2. To get the obvious out of the way, Charlie's Angels: The RPG is what most people see when they play this. It was different from other Final Fantasy games in many ways, but it still held most of the overall formula that made the FF series as popular as it is. This game in particular I have qualms with in regards to the story, since it was really linear, though it's nice that there are more than enough "missions" to fill in gaps and plotholes, or elaborate a bit more on past characters' backstories.

The gameplay was a fast-paced, psuedo-realtime sort of thing, and the dressphere system had me hooked trying to gather all the abilities and whatnot.

Finally, there was fanservice out the wazoo. razz

The only really bad points I saw about the game (again, my opinion) were the fact that if you weren't willing to look into the rest of the chapters, the game would be hella short for you. Also, having a carbon copy of Tidus for a villain was kinda cheap. neutral

...

Will be back later with thoughts on Final Fantasy 6 and Tactics. smile

Ha! I didnt even see this forum, Kei, if you knew I saw I would have totally answered it!
But anywho!

I love the ones that I do have:
Final Fantasy 8 through 12 (except 11)

Who would want to pay every month for 11? confused
9 was my most favorite and 10 just had me amazed with the storyline.
Im still playing 12 and 8 just got me amazed with the storyline, characters, and the junction system.

I also have FF5 and 6 but I havent come around to it yet. sweatdrop

But overall Final Fantasy is my favorite RPG. But You know I will always try other RPGs. *coughxenosaga2&3cough* xd

FFI
It's pretty cool. But why do they keep coming out with different versions of it!
---------------------------
FFII
This has to be the worst FF in the number series...
I hated the story, to many of your characters kept dying, and the emperor was kind of lame.
-----------------------------
FFIII
It's decent. Too short...but I love job abilities so getting all the jobs to lvl 100 kept me busy.
-----------------------------
FFIV
The first really good FF game. The story was great. But some of the characters are just lame like the ones who die or leave the party. Oh and Rosa sucks. I love Kain!
------------------------------
FFV
the story was okay..but the job abilities kept me busy. I just love games with job abilites. Also I love the characters.
------------------------------
FFVI
First FF to actually have a cool villain. Also, the story is great and this time all the characters are cool...well...maybe except for Gau...
------------------------------
FFVII
Is perfect...to me...lol
------------------------------
FFVIII
FF8 was a good FF game. It's just the story is too mushi-mushi for me...too romantic for my liking...
The villain of the game was not all that great...
Also the characters are not memorable...
The Junction system is cool...people who don't like it just don't want to understand it...
Oh, and I love Triple Triad.
-------------------------------
FFIX
This is actually my second favorite game. The story was fantastic and the characters are unique. Also the villain is awesome. Also tons of minigames to keep you busy. Also has the second best OST.
---------------------------------
FFX
Another good FF game. Story is good most of the characters are cool. However, Yu Yevon was lame. The OST of the game wasn't all that great. At least Blitzball was fun.
----------------------------------
FFX2
The story wasn't great...but I think the job class (dress spheres) is what saved this game. But the OST is bad and I hate what they did to blitzball.
----------------------------------
FFT
The story is really deep. Sometimes confusing. But the game doesn't last long. After you beat ot, there is nothing to do...
----------------------------------
FFTA
I actually think it is better than FFT because there is so much more to do...
----------------------------------
Dirge of Cerberus
Made me cry...out of sadness. The game wasn't great...The game looked beautiful but story and gameplay sucked...poor Vincent.
