I love it, a radical pro-abortionist calling a Christian organization fascist.

The irony here just knocks me silly.

And Scribble, maybe you haven't heard, but contraceptives are NOT 100% effective. I've seen several of those pamphlets and, while their agenda may be religious, the principle that abstinence is the only 100% guaranteed way to keep from getting pregnant is a proven, scientific FACT. Secondary virginity does not discuss 'undoing' anything, it's all about keeping the situation from getting worse.

Yeah, I've heard. Condoms are 90-something-% effective when used correctly. Not 'contraception is evil and never works' or whatever the mad Christians are trying to put across.

Abstinence doesn't replace simple sex education.

If the Christians running these places are acting the way they are, what's stopping them from exaggerating the ultrasound? I just don't put anything past these people.

But she didn't say they're painting contraception as evil, just ineffective and not part of God's plan, which shouldn't matter a bit if you don't believe in God.

She didn't say they were trying to force Christianity on people, or tell people they were evil. She's denying things that ARE proven facts and denying proven correlations from unbiased studies, clinging to studies done by places like NARAL (Oh no, because THEY aren't biased, Ms. Flores rolleyes )

She did not go into that CPC with an open mind, she went in determined to see bad, but even when she's trying to paint it in as negative a light as possible, she doesn't say they call contraception evil, and those pamphlets don't say it never works, they say it's not as affective as it's made out to be. I've heard people on all sides tell pregnant women, "You should've worn a condom," and don't believe the women if they say, "I did," because "condoms are almost 100% effective!"

I'll try to find you a copy of some of those online, but they don't say, they never work! They say, they don't ALWAYS work.

The only reason I doubt her is because I know people who work at CPCs and I've known people who became prolife only after they saw ultrasounds for themselves. I know two doctors who were prochoice until they became MDs, one a family physician and one a gynocologist. The reason she's afraid of ultrasounds isn't because they're exaggerated. It's because even in the first trimester, you can see a form in there. There's no reason to exaggerate.

So even though abstinence is the only 100% effective way, let's not practice it.
Also Christians have the right to express thier veiws. No one ever said you had to go there.
As for them exaggerating the ulrasound, it is against the law. Anyone caught doing that would lose their medical licence and could face jail time. So I really doubt they are doing that.

Why can't we have both? Sex education, with a focus on abstinence?

But I really think this is a moot point, since we should put less emphasis on schools and public entities educating our children about this sort of thing, and more on getting parents to be fricking parents again, from which I feel is where a lot of society's problems, not just abortion, are stemming.

Damn Xal. It seems you and I disagree only on one thing (openly, I'm sure you and i would vehemetly disagree with the origins of man and the universe, but thats another story).

I vehemtly agree. My mate and I will not be raising our children in the "norm" we plan to home school them, we plan to give them the talk. I actualy agree. Any time a kid gets in trouble, parents want to blame some one else when ultimitly they should have been paying more attention.

I suppose I just have the child-rearing philosophy of giving them the 'Where babies come from' general talk at whatever point's good for that, then once they're horny teenagers, giving them the 'Now it's much better not to have sex at your age, but if you feel you MUST, you might as well be smart about it, and safe' talk.

I plan to give them the whole talk (contraceptives with stress on abstenence) and then raise them that way.

Who says that my talk wouldn't include that bit as well?
