Peru sighed as he heard the door slam. One hand running through his hair as he dared a look over his shoulder. Loki... well it could have been worse. The door slamming usually meant that either Ithe had a new thing to stuff down their throats to test, or... Loki found some oddity to waste his time with. Still, at least it couldn't leave him bedridden for a week. Best to simply give in to the attack of words he was going to be facing and stop even trying to work. And he'd nearly been done with the spending chart for this month...
"What did you find?"
The middle child of the triplets hadn't needed much more than a slight question to burst into speech over his catch. "It's a thing!" Perhaps he wasn't the best with words, alas... it would take more than that to excite Peru obviously. Holding out the golden hued gemstone for the still less than excited accountant to see. "It's a thing. A thing that I can't move!" Of course this suggested that Loki had been planning to bring it home in the first place, or maybe just play with it. Who knew when it came to the failure of a demon. The fact was he'd tried to move something innanimate and well... it hadn't obeyed. Which in his mind made it animate. Thus why it was oh so special to him.
Not that Peru gave a damn. "Annnnd...." Sure, he knew his brother's abilities to manipulate chairs, pens, that teensy grain of salt, so on so forth. He also wasn't stupid. He knew just what that slacker of a brother he had was getting at. The problem was that he didn't care much, because it took enough self restraint from falling back into old ways and whacking his brother upside the head. This was due, of course, so some spending he'd discovered earlier while checking the months bills. Loki had apparently broken some dishes again... or they ran off because he'd overworked them making them clean themselves. Either way, it was his fault and he was more than a bit angry. Still, being banished meant that they didn't heal like demons woul anymore. More or less human. That rule really sucked. Especially when HE had passed the test!
"I couldn't mooooove it!" The reply was drawn out this time as if Peru might not have understood. The demon even bothered to sway the orb along in the air to add to the scene. "It's a magic orb." Yes, Loki was obviously not the most eloquent of people.
"So you had to bring it home?" Ah, yes... but that was seven years ago. Put it behind him... right. Back in his happy place. Or as close to it as he would ever be these days...
"I most certainly did! Ithe will know how to make it work!"
And this was where head met palm. His brother truly was clueless, no wonder he'd failed the test so long ago. "Ithe doesn't deal with artifacts." He quickly managed to grate out while wondering how hard he'd have to smash his head against something to make the headaches Loki gave him go away. Scratch that, he'd volunteer for Ithe's next potion. Maybe he had one already. "Ithe works with orbs... and you know that might have belonged to someone!" Oh, there went the morals kicking in. The thing that made both of his brother's question him about how he passed a demons exam all the time.
"It's mine now." Came the chime of a reply as he started off towards the door that would lead to Ithe's workshop, well the room Ithe called a workshop. "Besides, he'll know more than you!"
He didn't make it far though, shortly after pushing the door open he found a green bowl of foul smelling goop thrust in his face. "Does this smell odd to you?"
Loki nearly gagged as he shoved the thing back towards his brother. "Ithe... it's putrid. Don't put that in dinner, alright? I'd rather that thing you gave us last week, at least I'd still be able to eat." He coughed a bit as he tried to get the memory out of his head, tempoarily forgetting his reason for coming.
"Which one from last week?" He glanced briefly at the other demon before starting over to shove the bowl back down. He'd try to get rid of the smell later. "The one that left you comatose for a day, or the one that... er well..." He coughed, grinning slightly at that rather amusing memory.
He frowned, shaking his head. "Nevermind. Neither... Just make dinner normally tonight." He was about to turn to leave before he remembered the thing in his hand. "Oh oh oh!" He gave a slightly hop before literally chucking his newfound object of fascination at the alchemist.
Which nearly took ou Ithe, had it not been for the fact he'd had a hand up wiping his brow in order to catch it. "What..?" He eyed the thing suspiciously. Oddly enough, objects flying at his head with Loki as their source wasn't too out of place. Then again, considering Loki... Not much would be out of place. "Yea... it's pretty and all, but what's the big deal."
And it was time again for the classic line... "I can't move it."
"You just threw it at me."
"No, no, no, no!" He stamped a foot, both hands quickly finding their place on his hips in the classic pay attention stance. "I can't move it. You know, with magic! It's magic, it has life to it!"
That earned an eyebrow quirk and a second glance. "So what do we do with it?"
And Loki was deflated by Ithe's response. He'd been hoping that the youngest of the three might know. "E...er... but I just found it. You don't know at all?" The boy's posture had sagged to almost listless. He'd wanted to see what kind of thing lived in a gemstone like that.
"Nope. Put it somewhere you won't break it. Maybe it's like an egg?" It wasn't the most educated guess, but it was his best suggestion. A quick toss back before a hand was given to shoo Loki out. "Now unless you want to test this stuff for me before dinner get out. I need to work."
As if the hobby could be considered work. Still, Loki knew better than to whine or resist, besides... he didn't want to tes tthat stuff. "Stupid... egg gem things. Demons are told never to be patient from the day they're born. I'm not supposed to have to wait." Even if he had failed the exams.
