I always go for the music first. If I can't get into the music, I don't even bother to look at pictures. Unless I find something by flipping through cure, I never really know what the bands I'm listening to look like unless I enjoy the music and decide to look em up more. ^^; I'm a bit of a collector and I'll just go to soulseek and if I find someone with nothing but J-rock I'll download all the bands I don't have and just listen. ^^;;

Looks are a DEFINATE plus. I love all the outrageous styles and the beautifully coloured clothes(and Miyavi's lack of coordination that somehow just fits him).

I always love stage presence. if I watch a live, if I'm not either crying or about to cry by the end of the second time I watch a live by that band they don't get another chance, normally.

Lyrics draw me in too. Just because they sound pretty doesn't mean anything. I always always always go to find translations to the lyrics if they're avaliable and I absolutly love how most songs have a deeper meaning to them in the world of J-rock.

Indies bands get a lot more love from me than major label bands(except Dir en grey, of course). I always give Indies bands a lot of slack, the same way Vampi does, because I know they have the potential to just get better and better.


I'm also a lot more prone to leaning towards bands with girls. Because the J-rock world is so heavily male influenced, when I find females in the business I HAVE to check them out. And they usually end up rocking harder than the boys do.
