I did this drawing of the nursery rhyme Mary Mary once and put it up on elfwood. It's not a particularly well drawn piece but it has a good story behind it and it seems to have brought a few interesting things in my direction over the years. First, it got noticed by the writers of www.rhymes.org.uk, who I had taken inspiration from and mentioned in my picture description. They liked the picture and the fact that it linked to them and they asked me if they could use it on their site. That's pretty cool because it's a big site and if you search for nursery rhymes it's either number one on google or pretty close.
So, every so often I get emails because someone has seen it, which is nice.
A couple of days ago I got one asking me to draw a cartoon, based on the original picture, but reworking the background to include such things as an elephant and donkey and the main character to be a politician.
Now, I'm not American, I don't have anything to do with this message the person is trying to get across, but I just feel a bit uncomfortable drawing political cartoons for something I don't really understand or know the whole story about.
It seems all alright, just some mildly politcal website and nothing nasty in the picture, so my instinct is just to go along with it and see if I can make a bit of money.
What do you guys think? Ever done anything similar or something which you had no relation to?

Go for it. Get the money.
Who cares if you don't understand it, if the buyers think it means something when your done? Golden. You are getting a contract right?

I agree w/ psytoasty. I've taken contracts that I don't understand, don't care about or actively dislike.
Practice is practice, and money is fine too.

Hehe, this is actually turning out to be quite fun I must admit. I'm enjoying doing something totally away from what I normally do.
