Now, this is kinda wierd, cos I don't really have a definition of Intelligence to work with myself sweatdrop

But, using somebody else's....

What does intelligence really mean to you? Is it just book smarts, can it be being sports, visual and spatial intelligence, Whats your theory?
And can it be measured? should it be attempted to be?
what do you think?

ps pardon any typos XP

It's your extent of knowing the truth. Its being able to see the truth and not to be blinded. It's not becoming stupid and following one single belief because thats what you think.
Then comes the question "what is Truth?"
"How do you define Truth?"

Like everything in Physics, you can prove things beyond a doubt so long as you have the right assumptions for them to work beforehand.

If we assume that everything we observe is "Truthfull" and The Universe isn't playing tricks on us, then why shouldn't we be able ot have absolute Knowledge of The Truth?
So... if we can make that assumption... I agree.
[Teenage_Logic]
Its the power to question everything and the lust to seek the truth even though it is impossible to catch.
But here, you seem to redefine it; perhaps by Truth you mean the sum total of all Observable Knowledge that can be obtained.

In which case, doing anything at all is leading us in that Direction, though some Actions will get one there quicker than others.

For you, then, Intelligence is a measure of the maximum potential rate of change of Understanding that a person can achieve.

Sounds like a definition I'd like to have as well ^_^

I find intelligence is the ability to comprehend things and to remember topics. The ability to use what you know in situations is wisdom. Smart and Wise are two very different things. Intelligence is broken down into seperate categories, as a fact. Being wise is being able to see the right thing to do in a situation for the benefit of the main person. Intelligence is the ability to actually know what the hell is going on.

In my opinion intelligence is like a computer. If you are very intelligent you can store lots of information quickly the recall it even faster. Also I don't think you are necessarily "intelligent" if you can play sports well because that would depend on a different part of the brain, heredity, and muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility thought I will admit the rules of the sport and strategies would count as intelligence.

I don't think that intelligence can ever be accurately calculated. First off, there is a vast amount of knowledge in the world. If you think about it, every subject has these little details that only extreme specialists/fanatics will know. Also, how exactly are you going to test intelligence? Some people freeze on tests, so they wouldn't exactly be accurate. There are different kinds of knowledge, too. Such as logic, book information, creativity...the list goes on and on. With all the variables that are possible, it's basically impossible.

Intelligence: The ability and possibility of thinking and exercising certain abilities by the measurement of how much you have used those attributes in a sensible fashion that aids ones own survival. In other words, the measurement of what you can do divided by the measurement of what you did do measured against the best possible solution(s), complications added.

I would say yes and no because you may be able to measure potential but not how much of the potential will be used. You could probably approximate though.

I don't think it can be measured...
