If you happen to, could you give me a few tips on drawing anime style eyes. Male and female preferably, because I absolutely suck at eyes with pupils and the eyelid shadow... Not so hot a symmatry, but I'll get that after I can draw an eye in the first place...

It's hard to type how to draw anything unless it's a very basic, and an eye is not. I can, however, give you a few tips:
1. Use pictures you like as reference!!! This is by far the most important tool in learning how to draw eyes or anime in general.
2. For female eyes, the eyes are generally more rounded. for males, the eyes are usually somewhat angular.
3. Depending on the type of character you are drawing, choose the appropiate eye size and shape.
4. Work on your shading. You cannot achieve the felling of depth without it.
5. Do not start out with a high arc on the inner side of the eye and end up very low on the outer side. This is a personal preference, and I suppose you can if you want, but I think it looks unproffesional.

Merr, I've been practicing! Maybe I should put up what I've worked on recently in my journal to have maybe some people... dare I say... critique? *gasp* Maybe later, I don't feel like bombarding photobucket as of the moment.

ha. the hardest part in drawing is learning the principals and stuff.
eyes.. eyes.. Eyes are a very personal thing with the artist. I do different things with the eyes. Practice general female anime eyes and then guy eyes will be a slice of pie. Consider going to Barnes and Noble and getting a Basic anime book. Study it very closley and attempt to recreate it.

You're on the road. I have faith in you.. <33

In my chibi art I usually just leave the pupils out, but with my realism I try to do eyes. I guess I mix anime and realism... because I like details... but whatever... Here's a character I've been working on and these are two different versions of her, I've tweaked both of them and am in the process of sketching out another one of her. Sorry for the size!
Original with all the other sketches on the paper erased:

Second with revisions (thinking of coloring hence the hair highlight lines):

Third (in progress, appologizing for the lightness of the bg it's the girl that I want advice on):
