and_solo_said Miyaz xD Who determines these levels?I do Are these 'levels' colloquially used?
I believe that there is no 'right' or 'wrong' when it comes to understanding poetry. Who detemines this 'right' or 'wrong'?The author. It is their work. If you misinterpret it, you are wrong Since the author or those ancient texts are dead, does this mean that every single interpretation is 'wrong' as there is no one to judge the correctness of the interpretation? No...Just most of them. And we don't know which ones. Just how can you be sure that any readers have 'hit the mark' on a reading of ancient texts? Everyone could be wrong. You didn't answer one of my questions.
Are these 'levels' colloquially used?

Well, i havn't heard of your idea of 'levelling' before so i was wondering who else uses it. I mean, it wouldn't really count as any strong argument if it were only you who uses this type of classification.

I am the only person I know of who uses them, but I have never asked anyone else. As for whether it would hold up in an arguement, I do not much care. I can't think of any situation where the classification would help me win an arguement anyway

If you're the only one who uses such 'levels' then it's no wonder i don't understand. Thus, there is no meaning. xD

There is meaning, just not to you

and_solo_said There is meaning, just not to you If someone close to me dies. I would no longer feel their presence, i would no longer 'see' them, i would no longer understand 'presently' what it would be like for them to be near.
Thus, they no longer exist... and probably won't ever again.
If i can't see the meaning, if i can't feel the meaning, if i can't hear, smell or sense the meaning in any way. Then yes, there is no meaning.
Who can be sure whether something exists...?
Solipsism: "We are radically alone - surrounded only by bodies which we have to infer that there are other minds similar to our own"
Are you sure that you exist? Can I be sure that you exist? Perhaps you do not, and i am merely talking to a figment of my imagination. No offence intended.
If there is no meaning for me, then can i be sure that there are others to understand this meaning?
Ack... Sorry, too much philosophy... I'm feeling rather philosophical at the moment. gonk

Ignoring the 'do we exist' discussion for the moment...
If someone goes away, you cannot see them, you cannot hear them, but they are still there (somewhere)
If the meaning is hidden, you cannot see it, but it is still there.

There is no evidence or proof that it is there. Thus i believe it is not there, hence my argument.
I chose not to believe if there is no evidence to prove it exists. The only existence that i cannot doubt would be my own.
Rene Descartes: "Coigito Ergo Sum" I think therefore I am.
If i were to doubt myself, then i would be there to doubt, thus i would exist.

And that is the point.
Let those who will not see be blind, and challenge those who will look.

and_solo_said And that is the point.
Let those who will not see be blind, and challenge those who will look. I have the right to remain blind. The more you see, the more you know. The more you know, the more you want.
Sooner or later you will understand the limits to what you know. Thus you fall. People are shattered.
The higher you fly, the harder you go *SPLAT* onto the ground.
It's wise to stay un-'stickied' and reserved.
Ignorance is bliss.
Kudos to you if you want to see.
