Hello everyone. I am Harmonic_Soul, but you may call me Michelle. I absolutely adore roleplaying, and I would love to try to start a roleplay here. I am also into the genres of Harry Potter, Inuyasha, and anything modern day (i.e. highschool, family, etc.), so if you also agree with the below, feel free to PM me.

I try to roleplay literately. Literate, according to the fabulous site of Dictionary.com, means being able to read and write. While this also applies, I am not exactly talking about that term. Many of you probably know of this already, but for those who don't, "literate roleplaying" depends on the length and quality of your posts. I prefer at least three paragraphs (with 6+ sentences each) for the introduction, and at least one paragraph for following posts.

So, this would not be preferred.

Quote:
Christine was bored. She went to Meg and asked her where she was heading to that night.

And especially this:

Quote:
*grabs Punjab Lasso*

"Die, Chagny, die!"

*throws lasso over Raoul's throat*

If you can avoid doing this, we will probably get along fine. smile

The rules and plot are on another computer, and I will not be able to post them until later. However, if you are interested, please do PM me!

Rules

1. I hate the term "literate", but I can't seem to find another word for it at this time. Novel introductions are not required (and are discouraged in some cases), but the use of grammar, spelling, and imagination would be appreciated.

2. Typical roleplaying rules. I can't seem to remember them, but I doubt you all need to be reminded of them.

3. I beg of you, no made-ups (other than the necessary ones) until all of the major roles are taken. I have had too many experiences in roleplays in which there was one canon character and five or six made-up ones.

4. Use some form of OOC. Please and thank you.

5. To join, say a quote from another favorite musical of yours. If you do not have another favorite, say a quote from your favorite book.

6. This applies to the roleplay itself: Please do not make them stereotypes. Erik is not perfect, Christine does not secretly despise Raoul and would jump at the chance to get back to Erik if it presented itself, and Raoul is not a "sissy".

7. To show that you have read up to here, name your favorite song from The Phantom of the Opera.

8. Have fun! Lame rule, but I do wish it!

The following plot is influenced by the Broadway musical and Leroux's original novel.

Plot

It has been fifteen years since the burning of the Opera Populaire. It has been reconstructed, and now the new owners of the building are looking for new employees. Some old members, such as Madame Giry and her daughter, Meg, have returned to fill these positions. Much to everyone's delight, Prima Donna Carlotta has not returned, for the death of her beloved Piangi had shaken her beyond repair.

Enter Vicomtess Christine de Chagny and her husband Raoul, as well as their daughter. The daughter had heard much about her mother's exciting career before the unexpected burning of the theatre. She suspects that her mother has come to audition for the role of Prima Donna, but her father lectures her whenever she asks her mother about it.

Exciting though it may be, her father claims that it is unproper for a mother and Vicomtess to be on stage, allowing many to feast upon her talent and beauty. Their daughter didn't understand how it was unproper, but she didn't understand much about nobility in the first place.

In reality, Christine had been plagued with dreams for years and had come to confront inner demons.

Whether or not the dreams were warranted were a mystery to the young lady. After all, years ago the headlines of the newspapers had announced that the infamous Phantom of the Opera was found dead in the catatombs of the Opera House...

Setting

As mentioned, it has been fifteen years since the burning of the Opera Populaire. The honored guests, Raoul de Chagny and family, are due to arrive any moment. It is around noontime, and the staff know of the honored guests. The opera, Evita, is to start approximately four hours after their arrival. Whether or not this will be an important detail or not is up to you.
