I was reading a Love Hina manga at the start of class and we had to read b/c it was part of this program at school and so I reading it and the girls were like why are you reading that. I didn't say anything I just went back to my book.

This happens to my friends more than me 'cause I don't own/bring much manga to school.
This has happened to me though. It gets soooo freekin' annoying.
Like for christmas at school my friend gave me 2 inuyasha manga's.....I constantly got asked "what is that"
What happens to me cause I draw manga/anime alot more is "That's sooooo awsome!!! Can you teach me to do that" "If you teach me to draw like that I'll pay" I'm like WTF DO I LOOK LIKE AN ART TEACHER TO YOU!!!
Like if I know them (I'll teach my friends or someone who shows a genuine interest in it) I'll teach them, but if there like hooked for a second then NO F-ING WAY!! why should I waste my time to teach you sumthin you don't care about.
But yeah, so annoying.

I get sick of people being like "why do you read this? It's backwards. It's wrong!". It's not really wrong. It's how manga is read. People can be so close-minded. If it's not done their way it has to be wrong. Grr.

yah i does suck when people ask y r u reading it backwards but there r times when i forget i am readingbackwords. later i have to ask the person which way americans read books. lol

The thing I experienced a lot, especially in middle school when I first got into manga, was people asking if it was backwards. I would try to politely explain, but someone else would interrupt me with the same question. This would happen several times until someone says "THAT'S GAY Uh-hyuk!"

I didn't get a lot of 'that's weird/wrong/stupid," I got "THAT'S GAY, YOU'RE GAY."
It's like...really? You're making yourself sound INCREDIBLY intelligent by telling me that a BOOK is homosexual.
Of course, now that my drawing skillz have reached an expert level, I get a lot more of "gosh, you're amazing! I wish I could draw like that!" cool and they tell me how they wished they'd gotten into anime in their younger years. Pfff.

I was reading Chobits at school and then my friend wanted to read it too so I let her borrow it....that was such a bad idea. Her mom found it. I was 13 and at a Catholic school

Yeah, they ask me the same questions every once in a while by classmates, other students, and sometimes the teachers.
I used to get in trouble for reading during class and now of days, a classmate in my senior English in high school gets in trouble most of time for anime/manga during when we're not doing anything at the moment.
I usually read during lunch time and when there's free time during class time like in my sculpture class or math class.
