okay today in my english class we were talking about sexual predetors on the internet it was normal everyday talk. but out of nowhere Tony turns to me and starts insulting me on my sexuality! he said stuff about how discusting i was as a human being and that i shouldnt even be aloud in a public school. or any school!! i was so upset with him that i stood up and left the class room. the teacher followed me and gave me a refural and let me go! WTF why did i get it when i was being attacked!! why do people get so judgemental!?!!

Now, I'm not saying it was right of your friend to say that stuff (it really WASN'T). But you shouldn't have left either. You should've been the bigger person and just ignored it. Or talked to him privately once class was over.

It might not have been the best idea to leave, but you shouldn't have been punished for it! Did the teacher ask you to explain yourself, or did he/she just give you the referal? I CAN see why you left though; Tony had no right to say anything like that! I would've marched up to the teacher, and told her, and gotten HIM kicked out... Well, I no one can blame you...except the dumb teacher!
I don't think that this Tony was your friend, was he? (If he was, he isn't now!)

I think it was OK to leave, but you should have express to the instructor why. I also hope that when you received the referral, that you went to your principle to speak about the matter. That is sexual harrassment and is not allowed anywhere.

I get bullied a lot in my school, not for sexuality just generally, but I just walk off like that when people get pissy at me. Well, the teachers have said that I'm allowed to though. sweatdrop
I would follow Raeden Michelle's advice and see someone like the Principle? Or someone you can talk too. Not that I know much about the US school system (I assume your in the US, I'm in the UK) if you feel your being harassed like that they should have an obligation to put a stop to it? Right?

I'm in the US, yes, I'm not sure about MCR4life. If they are, then, yes, they should be obligated to put it to a stop. That is called sexual harassment and if the school does nothing about it, technically (of course you generally need money), you can sue the school for not providing a safe learning environment for you.

Day of Silence is basically a day of rememberance for those who have died from hate crimes, and those who have ended up in bad situations because of coming out. Besides, every year you always have new freshman coming in who may or may not know about it. I wish the best of luck to you!

You had every right to walk out like that. It's called a walk out, generally it's planned and big groups of people do it but it's the same idea. I did the same sort of thing once. It wasn't due to sexual harassment, but because my teacher (after a bit of drama- long story) called me a compulsive liar and pretty much said I'd fail at life. So I walked out of class and went and sat in the bathroom. One of my classmates came in a few minutes later and asked me to come back to class cause she'd be looking forward to practicing out scene so I did but from then on whenever my teacher insulted me I'd walk out of class until someone requested my return. It's great that you took your problem to the principl and to your GSA. Good luck with your day of silence.

I'm actually pretty pissed at your teacher. I mean Tony's a d**k but did you explain to your teacher what happened?
