Masika was prowling.
She was searching for that beast that she called a brother. Mafa had been looking for him, had she? Was he in cahoots with the hyenas?!
Whoever the new King would be, it was Masika's duty to protect him from any threat... including potential threats.
"Runai!" she called, her teeth bared. Sure, she risked attracting Mafa or one of her pack, but she did it for the pride she loved.
"Where is that..." Masika didn't finish her sentence. She just growled, deciding that that would be better suiting than trying to think of a word for the traitor.

Rune was a lazy sort of fellow when he wasn't spying and sneaking into the hyena territory. The other bit of his time, the adult was often found sleeping or skulking around the borders of the hyena clan. Where else would he go? Further out into the more active bit of the Maziko's? Surely not. That'd be stupid.
Fortunately for his dear sister, the male was up and freely wandering the area, eyeing up any opportunities to spend some quality time with more of Mafa's crew. Rather unfortunately, however, this adult was distracted rather suddenly by the loud, obnoxious calls of a female. Screaming his name.
Now WHO would do such a silly thing? Runai intended to find out. Turning, those beady black eyes scanned the deserted land before him. Almost immediately he'd spotted that grey colored girl wandering in the distance. With little hesitation implyed, Rune headed in that direction.
"Who the hell are you?!" He yelled, once close enough, a low sort of grumble rising from the males throat. This pesky girl had taken away his fun of sneaking into the hyena pack. He'd have to wait for hours now to make another attempt just in case one was prowling on guard and heard the racket Masika had started. "And shut up, will you? You're noisy! I'm busy!" He added, brows narrowing.

Masika smirked, "I'm not surprised that you don't know me."
She then stepped forward to him, continuing, "I am Masika... your eldest sister. I met your friend, Mafa..."
Her eyes narrowed, "She was looking for you. Any reason why that might be?" The tell-tale gutteral growl rose from her throat.
"Have you been helping the hyenas or something?" She sat down, her tail flicking back and forth, "Helping that... madwoman?"

Rune frowned at the girls outspoken nature.
"Really. My eldest sibling. Psh. Great. Just what I needed right now. And ooh, Mafkins? You've met, hmn? Have fun? How much did she toy? Assuming that you're still alive she couldn't have beaten you up /too/ badly.. pity. That's always the fun part.." He stated smoothly, although rather flatly.
"Aaah. So she was searching for me, this time? S'new. I've only searched for her before.. wonder what had her go out of her way.. hmn. I'll catch up with her later." He mumbled, keeping his voice under his breath as to keep the mental note a bit more quiet and to himself, rather than out loud and public. His curiousity wandered for a moment, searching for answers as to why Mafa'd be wandering around looking for /him/, rather the other way around. Unfortunately these thoughts stopped short as Masika continued to run her mouth.
"Eh? Oh. Not a clue. Y'never know. She's a tricky girl," He snerked, eyeing Masika carefully. So this was one of his long lost sisters..? He'd assumed that they'd all died out. Pity. Such an ugly thing.
A brow quirked at these thoughts, tail meanwhile swinging idoly behind his large figure while he thought. "..but you shouldn't care. Actually it's none of your business, in fact. So how about you just turn around and wander back the way you came." He continued snidely before quickly turning on heel and heading back in the direction he had originally come. He had work to do, and playing with girls wasn't on the list of to-do's.

"Because I have sworn to protect the Maziko Pride," Masika called after him, "And if you plan on selling us out to the hyenas, then I'll have to stop you."
Masika didn't like his tone of voice, no wonder he was alone!
"You are my brother, so I thought that I'd at least give you that warning."
She flexed her claws a bit, looking back worriedly at her leg. She hoped that he hadn't noticed. She wasn't in the condition for fighting... but she wasn't going to let anyone, least of all a blood-sibling, betray her people.

"Sworn to protect those miserable, filthy vermin? Psh. It's a waste of your time. They're weak enough. They don't need anymore help with their downfall," He smirked, not even bothering to glance back at the girl as he continued to limp off.
Unfortunately, Masika's continued comment caught his attention, immediately causing the male to spin once again. "Is that a threat..?" He questioned with a quiet growl while he prowled towards his sibling. "You're in no position to threaten /me/. Sister or not. I could care less of any blood relations we share, I could care less of any duties you think you have to do. I. don't. care. And it doesn't look to me like you're in any position to be threatening anyone, particularly me or any hyena, Mafa or not, anytime soon. By the way, what happened when you met up with that Mafa? What'd she scratch up? I can't imagine she'd let an innocent slip away so cleanly.." He commented, taking a quick glance towards the girls leg while he limped closer. He was one to know, afterall.
"And thanks for the gesture. But y'can just go protect the pride that'll fall into hyena claws soon enough. It's foolish for you to root on that side of the line, though. Assuming that you're smarter than you've rubbed off to be, you'd think of switching sidelines, girl." He grumped, that frown reappearing as he halted just steps away from his sibling.

Masika's eyes widened, and her tail flicked around to try to hide her gashed leg.
"Mafa hates all lions," Masika shook her head, "And that is what I am. I thank you for your worry, little brother, but I cannot betray my pride."
Though she had never met her brother before, he was still her brother, and it hurt her to see him do this.
"Why do you want to kill the lions who our father trusted? Forget our mother, she's a dying whore anyway, but what about our father?"

"Aaah.. so that was her doing, hmn? I figured as much.. consider yourself lucky that that's all she did," He commented offhandedly, catching the quick motion of her tail as she tried to cover up the gash on her leg.
"You could've easily ended up with a limp like mine. Wouldn't that just make you so lucky. Then maybe we'd have at least one thing in common," He added shortly with a quiet bit of laughter. It wasn't exactly a nice sort of laugh, but nevertheless.
"Aaah. And no. She hates the Maziko and strangers. I'm no Maziko, I'm no stranger. Therefore she doesn't quite hate me. She wants me alive, in the least. Which is more than I can say for the rest of you." Rune shifted his weight mildly from each leg to the other while he spoke.
"Oh? Our father? He's just as filthy as Ishara. He was at fault for messing around with the girl to begin with. And obviously he doesn't care as much as you think he does, otherwise he'd still be here." He pointed out roughly, narrowing his eyes. "Don't defend those two. They're not worth that much. And whore is too much a nice word for Ishara," He added.
To Rune, they were all accidents that were abandoned and left to fend for themselves. On top of it, all his siblings besides his other brother had left. And even then, he'd managed to flitter off, too. What gave THIS girl the right to suddenly shove herself into the picture? The male fumed silently at the thought. He was doing fine and well without her, and he had stronger allies than she'd ever have. That made him better, right? Totally.

Masika laughed at his comment about Ishara, "You share no love for our mother either. I am glad... I saw Nkechi once, she's happily living by the sea. I couldn't ever live in a place as bright as that..."
"I am glad that you're happy in this dusty place," sighed Masika, "Even if you are not with the Pride. I hope that you'll always be happy, even if we are on opposite sides of the battlefield."
Masika started to limp away, "I have to defend this Pride. It is my destiny, just as you have yours. I cannot turn my back on this place when the rest of our family has."

"Chi was stupid. She was slow enough to be happy anywhere, and was the most gullable moron I've ever met." He replied. Chi was one of the few that had actually given a s**t about Rune, but as time went on, he learned to care less and less.
"And like hell I'm happy. And something's wrong with you if you want to protect those idiots. It makes you just as retarded as they are. If not more." He added tastefully, nodding with satisfaction.
"Oh, and quit rambling. No one cares about destiny anymore. Y'make your own. If we do, it's to live and to die. That's about it. Whatever else that goes on is pointless, because in the end everyone kicks the dust and rots."
He was tempted to follow after and taunt the girl further, but eh. What was the point. He'd have his fun with her later.

Masika didn't agree, but she knew that talking to him would be pointless.
She'd meet him again, soon enough... and hopefully they wouldn't end up fighting.
Her suspicions confirmed, Masika started to hobble back to her ribcage-home to nurse her festering wound.
