It was quite early in the morning, but already there was a creature up and about, active as could be. It was a huge improvement from only a week before that, as before she had been nearly dead, a literal walking skeleton. Now, however, with the help of her friend Ashkie, she had put on a reasonable amount of weight and could now do simple tasks. She could hunt small animals like rodents and rabbits, and she could walk a full day without growing tired. She felt so amazing.

This morning, in celebration of her new energy and abilities, she had decided to take a walk. Ash had been a bit hesitant, but she had convinced him that she wouldn't wander far and would always be within howling distance of him.

With that in mind, he had allowed her to go. Wiggling in excitement, she had left almost immediately. It was amazing what a little bit of meat on her bones could do.

"Where to go... meadow?" she asked herself, liking the sound of her own voice again. There was nothing to be ashamed of now. She was beginning to become healthy again, and she absolutely loved it. "Or maybe to fish?" she said again, wiggling every time she talked. She didn't have an awkward voice anymore! No longer were her chords strained with the horrors of malnourishment. She was beautiful again.

Moving along, she lifted her head and let her tail sway gently behind her. The day was bright and the sun was warm, despite winter still being in full effect. Whisper felt good, and as if nothing could bring her down. She felt like she could take on the world.

The winter was the best time of year for Kiba. For when the snow fell it was as if he was a ghost, with only his golden eyes to alert anyone of his presence. But today things were clear-there wasn't even any lingering frost from the morning. It was cold, to be sure, but there was sno snow. It was simply gray and bear, waiting for the white flakes to come. And he, in contrast, stuck out all too brightly, like the moon against the black sky.

But he didn't seem to notice. His steps seem to be led by an unseen force, his eyes unfocused and his destination unknown. It was almost like a dream-no path, and yet he couldn't stray. He was bound by something he couldn't see nor understand and he didn't bother to fight it.

Whisper continued along, padding happily through the snow. She was so excited that she even stopped every few paces or so to look at the pawprints she made. For once, it seemed like she was taking a path, going someplace in her life. Before, it had just been her and starvation, every day. Now, she felt alive.

Wiggling like a tiny puppy, the female bounced then went forward again. Though the snow was cold on her paws, she felt it more as a light friend rather than some cruel coldness. Nothing could bring her down. Not today, not tomorrow, and not ever it seemed. She was turning her life around with the help of her friend, Ashkie. With his help, she was well on her way to reaching a healthy weight for a wolf of her stature and age.

Her tail wagging gently behind her, she smiled to herself and continued walking. As she did so, she saw something moving in the distance. Whatever it was, it was white, much like the snow. And, for a moment, she almost believed that the ground had gotten up and moved itself. But that wasn't possible, she told herself, and so she ventured curiously forward.

Nearing the other wolf, her ears perked slightly. The white wolf made no noise and didn't look like he was very determined on his destination.

"Hello?" she murmured, hesitant yet at the same time excited to be meeting new wolves again.

Kiba paused, a feint sound reaching his ears. With a short, slow blink his eyes slide back into focus, the world becoming real and aparent again. His insincts adjusted far more quickly then his mind, always aware of where he was or what he was doing even if his mind wandered or drifted away. And his senses were very aware of the female, as if she had been there all along. He turned his head to look at her, his bright yellow eyes shining like a beacon, the only thing that stood him appart from the snowy landscape. He gave no word of reply, just a look that knew everything and yet nothing; a question and an answer together.

Whisper frowned at the other wolf when she did not get an immediate response. It had been a while since she had ever really interacted with a stranger, a wolf she had never met before, so she felt she might have done something wrong. But what could she have done? It was true, it had been a while, but she felt certain she remembered how she had interacted with others when she was younger.

"I hope I'm not intruding," the green female murmured, finding herself growing terribly shy. His eyes were piercing, and as the seconds ticked by she was averting her eyes and going back into her normal omega pose: tail tucked, ears back, and head lowered.

"Uhm... I'm Whisper," she said, voice shaking. Hopefully revealing her name, her identity, would help to convince the other that she really was harmless.

Kiba blinked, remaining still where he was, like a statue. She was cowering, but there was no reason for it. What was she doing? He wasn't a thinker, really, but he followed his gut, and nothing told him she should be like that. "Don't stand like that," he said in a low, flat toned voice, sounding much like the whispy whisper of the wind. He then paused for a long time, as if the words she spoke too a while to reach him. Or as if he really was made of snow and had trouble communicating, "Kiba."

Whisper let her mouth fall open. But only for a moment. She schooled her features again, regaining her composure from when he had told her not to stand as she was. She had remained in the omega stance for a minute or so, but then straightened herself slightly. Yet she did so cautiously, not knowing quite what it was that he wanted. She figured he meant not to cower so much, since cowering more wouldn't seem logical.

"I-I'm sorry.." she murmured, standing straighter but still averting her eyes. This was a strange wolf. He sounded a little like a wolf who could be aggressive, but then when she looked at him for a moment she could find no trace of aggression. It was confusing.

Yet some of it was cleared up when he replied with his own name. Her tail wagged slightly, and she looked at him again with her bright golden eyes.

"It's nice to meet you, Kiba!" she said, cheerfulness beginning to creep into her voice. It was nice to be able to talk to another wolf. Perhaps she would have the opportunity to make a new friend. That's what she needed, more friends. She wouldn't allow herself to live alone any longer!

"Do you live around here?" she asked, tilting her head curiously.

Kiba's golded eyes continued to stare back at her, unblinking, almost as if he didn't need to do so. "I don't live anywhere," he said in the same tone as before, holding about as much emtion as the breeze. He had no reason to be confident, and yet there was no trace of self-doubt in his being. Perhaps if he were wiser he'd take more care, or perhaps if he was more impulsive he'd be more social, but he had been as isolated as newly touched snow, and new little of the ways of others. Especially of this shy, but cheerful female.

Whisper found her wagging tail slowly returning to a resting state, no longer in motion. She found his stare almost ghost-like, and she didn't know what to think of him. He acted almost as if he didn't think about what he did. He was simply there, interacting only because she had instigated interaction with him. Did he not like to be disturbed? She knew there were some wolves who didn't like others, they simply wanted to be alone. Shrinking back, she whined to herself.

When he mentioned that he didn't live anywhere, the green female frowned slightly.

"Don't live anywhere?" she repeated, though she felt stupid doing so. His nature made her wonder about the way she acted, and if she came off as strange to anyone.

"That's horrible!" she cried, almost weeping for him. It was amazing how much she could feel for someone she hardly knew. "But you must live somewhere. You have to rest! You have to eat..." she murmured, half to herself. She remembered all too well how close she had come to death because she had spent too much time searching and crying, and not enough time resting and eating as she should have been.

But as she looked at him, she couldn't help but think he was a ghost. She couldn't see through him or anything, but then that whole part of the ghost tales might have just been myths. Folding her ears back, she simply waited for his next response.

Because that's all she felt she could do.

"Not like that," he murmured in his whispy tone. His tail did not move, his ears did not twitch, and he did not blink. He was very much like a spector. Her distressed reaction didn't...make much sense to him. It was puzzling, though his expression didn't show it. "I just don't stay in once place. I keep moving." Kept searching, that was all he did. Searching for something he didn't understand. Perhaps that was why he had yet to find it.
