Daniel was a bit nervous as he stood on the trampoline, waiting for the signal to begin. When it was finally given, all of his willpower went into his concentration and sheer determination to make it through this, and pass inspection by the judges glaring down on him like hawks to a mouse.

He began with a simple flip, followed by a high-jump. Next came the backward arc in midair, his body stretched to its fullest. He landed squarely on his hands, and righted himself before performing a jump-spin...
then pausing as he pushed his willpower against the pain in his chest to continue.

Continue he did. A front handspring followed up by a double-somersault into a roll that brought him up, and ready for another arc - this time forward. He landed on his feet. Once more, he paused. Then continued.
A jump-twist, a wince as the pain was growing worse. Twist, then tumble again, and come up into a hard jump that would send him to the right height for a roll morphed with a spin. He landed on his hands on that one. That was a mistake. He was supposed to land in a roll. Regardless, he flew with it, and again jumped to the right height, and RE-did the roll, leading off into another jump, and a complicated maneuver that he DID screw up on, which was the jump-dive, landing on one hand. He did that, but couldn't sustain the momentum, and wound up in a hard roll, and not a jump-back. But he made up for his mistake with another jump up. After that, he had to stop. The pain was too great to continue - and his willpower was wearing thin. He stopped in the middle of the trampoline, winced, and then looked up at the judges with a beaming face, and his arms wide-spread to signal the finish of the routine.

Now, all he had to do was wait.

Rose watched the performance with appreciation and awe, the kid was good. Of course he'd been recommended by his former teacher because of that fact. That his family had a history performing on trampoline was also something to take into mind. Had he shown up earlier he might have made an interesting addition to the trampoline snowflakes in the frosty production.

Of course, she noted he was still rough around the edges like all trainees. He'd need work on music timing, other apparatus training, drama and the like , though those were mandatory courses anyways. It was good to have more trainees that had knowledge of at least one apparatus already. Even those like Ramajan who had juggling skills were highly prized.

As the routine ended she frowned a bit and noticed her collegues were doing the same. It hadn't been bad but it had fallen apart a bit at the end.

" Needs to work on graceful air form" Caleb, the current trampoline teacher and former performer murmured " But overall there's potential."

Rose stood and addressed the boy " We'll need to confer for a few moments, please see Mr. Zeder while you wait." She said with a smile nodding towards a man leaning against a far wall.

Danny nodded, and slipped off the trampoline, dabbing the sweat from his forehead, and moving over to the person in question. He closed his eyes tightly, and tried to regain control over the pain. It worked - to an extent. But he was nearly staggering as he approached the person with which he was supposed to talk.

From underneath a shaggy mop of dirty blonde hair Matthew shook his head and watched the kid approach " Never did understand the trampoline, it's like jumping off as building over and over again asking to get killed." Despite what he he said his words were friendly. he had a good deal of respect for anyone who did anything on stage. He simply thought they were all nuts. trampolinist, trapeze artists, those crazy people practicing socially acceptable bondage. All of it was entertaining to watch but not something you'd catchi him doing anytime soon.

As the kid made an obviously pained way to him his green eyes narrowed, " Sit" he ordered pointing to a chair near him. He wondered if the boy had pulled something or if he'd pushed himself to far for his skill level. either way it was Matty's job to check him over. he was no doctor but like all staff members he had basic first aid and trauma training. He knew what a humaoid heartbeat sounded like , and he was told by his patients when to expect abnormal things. He could check for a proper pulse and rest and active heart rate. he could inject an epipen into someone or administer insulin ( though he was not so good with the needles)

For now though he needed to check for injury and find out basic stats to check against his current condition. Not his normal job but with the Nurse away at a conference and most other staff busy he'd been the on one call.

Danny obeyed, and sank gratefully into the chair he was pointed at. He was exhausted, clearly, and probably shouldn't be. Though there WAS the possibility that the routine had been the longest he'd ever been up there, it was a dim one. He rested his arms on his knees, hunched over with his head down. He felt horrible. His chest ached as if fire had taken up residence there. He was good at ignoring pain, though - so it didn't appear to anyone else [other than Matt, who was closest to him at the moment] that he was in so much pain.

" Were you performing sick and do you have any medical conditions I should know about." Diabetic applicants and those performing with colds and flus usually came out of their application like this. It didn't give them the nicest performance or look of stamina but if it whatever it was could be worked around they were usually accepted. Plus asking these questions allowed him to know how much leeway to give any irregularities he found during the checkup.

Danny shook his head. "I don't know of any medical conditions I have. I've just always been easily out of breath. I never told my parents, because they didn't exactly have much time to take me to the doctor, and he wouldn't have found anything, anyway." He swayed to the side slightly, then righted himself. "As far as I know, I'm fine." And that - was a cleverly crafted lie. He could FEEL the pain in his chest. It was true that he didn't know what it was, but it didn't stop the fact that it was there.

"Hmm" The kid probably had a history of something and with no reliable doctor's visits it had been missed for years. Obviously it wasn't fatal or by his age the kid would have died in some stupid childish stunt. He shook his head they'd need a pro to check him over if he was cleared. " If there's anything bothering you at the moment let me know ok? If you make it in i'll take you right away for a proper looking over at the local clinic ok."

He shrugged a bit - nodded, and then sighed. He may as well tell the truth. Lying wasn't going to get him anywhere, and may very well wind up hurting him far more. "Right now, my chest hurts.. a little. Ok, a lot. I don't know why. It started doing that the moment I came off the trampoline. But I don't want this to ruin my chances!"
