Mirengo yawned as he moved through the grass slowly. The moon was out, though just a sliver, and the earth was dark. His mom would kill him if she knew he was gone. And for that matter, his pops might too. He wasn't afraid though! He was just having a little fun, after all. His tail flicked and his humming died down. He'd passed pride rock (or what he thought to be pride rock) some time back and was just now entering some rather creepy territory.

But he liked creepy, creepy was good. His eyes flickered around and he set his first white toe into the Graveyard.

Masika sniffed the air, her ears twitching as they came to alertness. This place was not creepy to her at all, it came with growing up by the bones.

She smelled the pridelands, however. That irked her... but it wasn't just the pridelands. There were many things mixed in this scent.

"Who's there?" she asked as she craned her head around, "You're not hyena... are you from the Pridelands?"

She bristled a bit, already on edge from a meeting with a rather nasty hyena.

Mirengo blinked and his eyes flashed left and then right. Who was speaking? It was hard to spot Masika among all of the bones, but eventually he did. He gave a small giggle of surprise. "Why would any hyena live in the pridelands, don't they hate it there?" That's what he heard, anyways. But this would probably only confuse the lioness into thinking he was a hyena.

He moved slowly into the territory, making himself visable. Mostly the pink of his mane. "And no, I am from the Kusini'Mwezi lands. Why?" He smirked slowly, eying the adult female. "Are you a hyena from the pridelands, or something?" Obviously he knew she wasn't, he was just having his own fun.

Masika rolled her eyes.

"I specified that you didn't smell like a hyena," Masika craned her neck and stood up, rising from the dust of the Graveyard. Her eyes widened when she saw the juvenile.

"Why, you're just a child..." she mused, "What are you doing in this place? Don't you know that hyenas..." She shook her head and turned around, limping. Her wound came into full-view, it had started to heal but it was rather gruesome.

"If Mafa saw you out here, she'd rip you apart. Are you lost? I don't know the lands that you speak of... but I'd at least be able to escort you back to the Pridelands."

Masika took a moment to smile, "Or are you on an adventure? You wouldn't be the first cub that I've seen..."

He shrugged lightly, so he'd heard wrong. Perhaps he just wasn't that great at listening. "Mafa?" He questioned, wondering if she was a hyena. Rengo had never really met one before, or seen them. He heard that they were vile creatures though! It sounded fascinating, to be quite honest.

"Well I guess you're hearing is as bad as mine. Why would I want to be escorted back to the pridelands if I am from not the pridelands?" He winked at her and moved to the left of her, examining a huge skull. What kind of animal was this from... oh was this a hyena? His eyes widened at the thought. "I suppose you can call it an adventure... or boredom, doesn't matter either way. What about you, why are you in this creepy yet fascinating place?" He looked over his shoulder at her, seeming not to care that she was adult and he was child. He still spoke as if to an equal.

Masika rolled her eyes again, this time smiling. The kid was good, if a bit... presumptuous.

"I live here," she calmly replied, "This is the home of the Maziko Pride... our numbers are few, but we are proud of who we are."

Masika turned around and followed his eyes to the skull.

"Haven't you ever seen an elephant skull before?" Masika caught herself, "Well, I doubt that there are any in the Kusini'Mwezi territory. I grew up here, they're commonplace to me."

Maziko? He'd never heard about it or been told about it. And if it was small it was no wonder. "I guess the pride I am from is large... but it's been polluted by family." He made a face of disgust, already deciding he had way too many relations in the place for it to be any fun.

His brows raised. Elephant? He stood on two hind paws, his front paws pressing against it as he tried to peer into an eye socket. "I haven't, what do they look like while living?" His tail flicked back and forth, "Oh, forgive me." He turned and bowed himself to her. "My name is Mirengo, well it's not my full name but it will have to do, ney?"

"The only elephants I ever see are the ones who come here to die..." Masika mused, "They're big, and they're the color of clay. The ground shakes when they fall..."

She shuddered, not liking to see anything die.

"I am Masika. I have no nickname," continued the lioness, "And be lucky that you have family. My mother abandoned me as soon as I grew up, following some other male. I never saw my father after that... though I don't think he could've lived without her. Many of my siblings have disappeared as well, leaving just me and my moronic hyena-kissing brother."

The fur on her back ruffled a bit, but she remained calm.

He kept his mouth shut when he heard her words, though he wanted so badly to tell her that she was clay-colored and bigger than him so that must make her an elephant, even though she was clearly a lion.

No nickname? Rengo snorted slightly and he looked over to her. "Why not?" His eyes narrowed when she started saying how lucky her was to have family. "Poor adult." He cooed out in mock comfort, annoyed that she would take that view on things. She was feeling sorry for herself, but so was he. "Well if you'd known my family extentions or even the size I am talking about you would not tell me to be lucky. Three siblings, about..." He thinks. "6 aunts and uncles. at least 6 great aunts or uncles. Extentions of of their families. And think about it... most of this family living in one pride. It's disgusting, I'd rather of had them all abandon me."
